Haruhi Endless Eight Part II Schedule Mystery

As those familiar with the light novels expected, the latest episode of Haruhi that aired earlier today was indeed a continuation of the previous episode’s Endless Eight story arc.
Defying what was originally thought by many to be the new season’s broadcast order, the episode also began to explain the strange calmness and normality found in the first Endless Eight episode story, nothing new to fans of the novels, but went on to reveal what may be a puzzle even to them…
Stop here if you do not wish to see spoilers, although the major spoilers only start near the end of the post immediately after the screencaps.
The episode is officially named エンドレスエイト / Endless Eight, exactly the same as the previous episode, so it will probably come to be referred to as “Endless Eight Part II” or simply ‘Episode 13″ to avoid confusion.
It of course begins identically to the first Endless Eight (save Kyon revealing quite a bit more skin this time), which is sure to terribly confuse anyone that has not seen the episode or is totally unfamiliar with the story.
As the sort of commentary from our post on the previous episode would likely make little to no sense given the episode’s plot on top of spoiling the episode terribly, it’s recommended one watch the episode before reading too much on it.

The major surprise here is really that the Endless Eight arc is obviously going to be continued on in the third episode, which will also be named “Endless Eight” and feature the brigade re-living the same 2 week period of their summer for what will be the 15,499th time.
The multiple expected airing orders that circulated widely online mostly assumed Endless Eight to finish in 1 episode, with the rest nearly all agreeing on a 2-parter being the maximum.
It was obvious that the story would go on for at least a second episode following last week’s show, but continuing on for a third episode has a good chance of upsetting the theorized schedule – after next week’s episodes there will only be 1 more new episode until the original season’s Episode 00 (The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina) should air, but certainly the Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya arc will not be shoehorned into just one episode?
Perhaps not, and the Sigh arc (mostly expected to be the 2nd season’s second largest story arc) will be moved ahead to after the 4 remaining episodes from the 1st season that are yet to air in this rebroadcast.
Maybe we will see Endless Eight Part IV filling in for July 09’s episode then?

episode 12's endless eight was a perfect feign move (for those who haven't read the novel). this is the key episode, without this episode, episode 12's endless eight will be pointless and lame...
kyo ani sure know how to present the plot the best way! the outcome won't be as good if the whole plot is done within a single episode.
I think the same way as you, if endless summer were to end with those 2 episodes this will mean nothing, maybe they were able to make it good in 2 episodes, but being these 3 it would be good almost for sure.
Maybe I should watch Haruhi after all.

Actually there have been other tentatives schedules than the one reported here on Sankaku, that place the "disappearance", not the "sigh", as the longest arc, since it was referred to at one point on HAruhi.tv. Also several of these other schedules place 00 one week later, which would still leave two episodes for the "sigh" unless endless eight gets a fourth episode.

I accidentally the whole episode 12 thinking it was 13 (jeez, I really gotta sort out my anime folders). It was a bizarre experience, knowing that it would be different from episode 12 and trying to see the changes when of course everything was the same. Talk about mindfuck, doing what I just did is double mindfuckery - maybe episode 13 had actually been identical to episode 12 after all, or perhaps there were different versions of episode 13, or even that it had originally been different and Haruhi herself had somehow changed it back to be the same. Or maybe I just suck cocks.

Yes I did.
Pushing the "Sigh" arc after the remaining first season episodes won't work since that arc LEADS up to those episodes.
Might as well throw in my own speculations:
Next week's episode will conclude Endless Eight, going through the repeated week much quicker in order to focus on the epilogue, then there'll be three or four episodes of Sighs - Shamisen's origins could do with explaining for a scene in Disappearance so I doubt this book will be skipped even with the film itself already in place - then the rest of the first season, then around six episodes for Disappearance, which will conclude this series (either that or it will end with an anime-exclusive episode, as the previous season did chronologically speaking).
I don't expect any of the stories from Snow Mountain Syndrome onwards will make the cut of this run, as they generally tie in to the major arc of the most recent few books and that story has yet to be concluded.
Expect a third season in two or three years, once the books are done. Makes sense to me anyway.
It's that or they're planning on producing variations of Endless Eight for the next 594 years or so.
They're going to make this a 52 episodes season, including season 1.
Have you noticed that the scenes we already saw last week are getting more duller and blurrier?
I won't be surprised if next week we'll be barely able to make out what's happening in the big blurry desaturated mess.

okay, seeing how Endless Eight is at least three episodes, I think KyoAni are leaving themselves enough material to make a 56 episodes season when the tenth novel finally comes out. (1 bamboo leaf + 3 endless eight + 2 snowy + 3 from the disturbance + 4 the sigh + 4 the anger + 12 the dissociation and the surprise + 14 from 2006 = 53. now we stretch a little the things, for example Endless Eight gets a fourth episode... )

I found the animation's quality better than the first part:more details,moar lines,quality of shadows...
And the ambiance is obvious more dark,melancholic and realist.

I, for one, do not think Sigh will get more than two episodes, and would like to see it only get one.
If you have read the novel, you should know that there aren't much to show in Sigh.
If you read the novel AGAIN, you'll realize there's quite a bit to show.
