K-On is censored though. Artists restraining themselves to maintain political correctness (as in show a rice bowl instead of pantsu) counts as censorship.

    Comment by LunarSD
    00:04 19/06/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

    So true.

Yet they could also be obscuring panty shots because the artists themselves originally intended the aesthetic/thematic focus of the show to be non-sexual (as unlikely as that scenario is ^_^).

The only way to know for sure is to abolish political correctness censorship/obscenity completely and then see if we still have shows out there that obscure their panty shots if that's what they want to do.

Which we would of course. If someone doesn't want sexualizable themes in what they create, they aren't going to put them in there. The censorship crowd's longest-running argument against obscenity is that it would spiral "out of control" if left unregulated. Like a narcotic addict searching for every increasing highs.

But what they never realize is that's equating sexual chemistry with narcotics chemistry, which are completely different from each other. Sexuality is naturally regulated in our minds, just as it would be in our creative media. There's nothing artificial and narcotic about sexual experimentation.

But that's pretty much all they've got as an argument against us. All hypothetical and more and more untestable the more they keeping banning things, as expected.

    01:36 19/06/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

Just because it's not shown doesn't mean it's bad (as in "all censorship is bad"). It's a lot more provocative/erotic to suggest something than to outright show it. It might be a result of regulations, but I find it more tasteful (and damn funny) to show a rice bowl than to have the panties on the screen.

    19:19 18/06/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

while you have a point that kyoani's name on a production does greatly increase the popularity, most of kyoani's productions DO warrant attention due to self standing qualities. Popularity and 'prestige' only come from success and kyoani has only been one. Overrated is subjective as one can find kyoani's productions to be subpar, par,or birdie with individual opinions for each.

    20:51 18/06/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

thats also true, since blind fanboys often ignore the misshaps of animation/production and simply *allow* the quality of said fandom to decrease. But i was only pointing out that overrated and statements like 'i hate k-on etc etc' are all subjective and in most cases people dont provide valid reasonable examples; just massive annoying hate spam spewing.

lol wasnt pouring the hateraid on you personally, just on those who hate because often its cool to hate.

I guess I tend to make a bit too contemptuous sounding "arguments" from time to time, so I feel sorry about that.

I've actually watched and liked quite a bit of KyoAni's stuff, even recommended some to my friends. So, I'm probably partially to be blamed of their success, too. These days it feels like different places get overwhelmingly flooded with KyoAni's titles, so I'm getting a bit tired of that and tend to have some reservetions and prerequisites about their work.

That doesn't probably sound anything like what I first said, but I'm not probably one to yell about quality anyway when I'm so easily entertained by good looking women...

Err, that doesn't mean anything. Queen's Blade's artbooks outsell K-On's original manga around 20 to 1 and more most likely.

It pretty much outsells K-On in every aspect except the anime...which is understandable since the Queen's Blade anime wasn't epic or anything.

Still deserves a second season. You K-On fans want one? Get the author off his lazy ass so he can continue making more material. Queen's Blade has enough stuff for 2 more seasons you know? Not to mention alternate retellings like Hide And Seek which could be a season to itself too.

I think fans of the anime/figures/merch should actually try the game that started the Queens Blade Craze. The Books are drawn insanely well and by top anime artists of our time. So not only do we get a kick ass art book it doubles as a pen and paper game as well.

I actually ordered Ymir, Ardra, Nix, and Clodette's books... just waiting for them to ship :\

Actually, the only new characters they could introduce are the male characters from the novels...

All the girls have already been introduced (except for Nyx, who was shown briefly though in an early episode).

All the newer girls are from Rebellion and you just know they're saving that one as a third season.

    19:47 18/06/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

No surprise. The title of the anime leaves one to expect their to be a sequel as do the episodes themselves. I'm pretty sure they planned this from the beginning. Whether they have plans for a third season I rather doubt. I do have to say though that despite the anime being mainly fanservice it does have a rather nice budget and can only be expected.

In regards to licensing I have but only say this. If strike witches can be licensed then close to anything can be. The anime industry is not stupid they know fanservice anime generally sells well. If they do decide to license it the dub would prove to be interesting at the least. My bet though is if licensed it will be sub release only. I don't doubt that it will be released though, it's only a matter of time.

In regards to the anime it could have been better but the main focus definitely seemed to be ecchi factor. I was rather surprised though reading the manga for queen's blade (hide and seek) it is rather entertaining. With the economies of the world in shambles or heading towards decay people will fall back on whatever they need to in order to make money and for Japan Queen's Blade is one of them.

In the end Queen's Blade whether you love or hate it seems to fall into a category of various things that say anti-censorship. Censoring this show has been a joke and a huge statement that censorship has gone too far and people need to take a stand. As long as this remains uncensored at least in one place it is fighting for freedoms of the people.
