IB these were drawn by Nakajima-san, as part of a contract agreeing to do the voice for this vocaloid.

There are so MANY good artists in Japan who would've made this vocaloid justive. I mean alright it's a known mangaka and whatever, but if can't draw moe then let somebody else try.

The unofficial picture is beautiful, makes that hair look a lot better.

Clearly they can hire quality artists, but why not here...?

The character design itself isn't too bad, but the art quality...yeah, not so good.
That second official image there isn't too bad. But the pixiv art still is the best.

Dislike the design and drawing besides the Pixiv one....

The artist is the same guy who created Birdy the Mighty. Considering the large differences between the Birdy manga and this, he was VERY drunk when he had to draw Megpoid.

why....why did they choose that artist...to represent such a big figure.....

It's basically...older Ranka, in an attire that Sheryl nome might wear, only coloured in her retina kill colours.

At least it's salvage-able by fanworks. Some designs couldn't even do that.

From the demo videos out on youtube, the voice is pretty fail.

That aside, her design is rather cute. I like how they kept the Ranka feel but still made her unique.

The mouth is really wack on the official version, other than that, its not that bad. Then again, it is nothing compared to the unofficial version.

Nice hair color, and yes that's the only good thing I've to say about it.

Not trying to be Simon Cowell, but seriously, compared to the other Vocaloid official arts, this one looks kinda like it's done by someone who has just received a tablet and currently testing it..

So, did Megumi Nakajima do the character art herself or something? The artists moniker is Gumi, right? At least it would explain the amateur style.

Let's just ignore the "official" art and be done with it. Looking forward to the fanwork. And rule 34, assuming it isn't banned by then.

Those drawings are Quality.

I don't care too much on the art end of things. If the vocal set actually sounds good, that will probably be a better driving force for the product at this point. The company has established enough of a customer base that even with an illustration as sub-par as this won't hinder the use as long as it sounds fine -- and as shown with the fan art already, people will fill in the visual quality gap.
