MAD is basically what you might be familiar with as "AMV", or Anime Music Videos.
Technically, any sort of music video of the sort we put on the site can be called a MAD, although English speakers tend to use it to refer to Japanese videos exclusively, or even to differentiate between fast-paced kinetic videos from slower videos such as this one.
We use just one word for it on this site, as it'd be confusing otherwise.

Damn that delivered a swift kick to my emotional balls, it was freacking awesome. I loved every bit of Clannad and After Story and that right there sums it up perfectly, though it would be good to put a spoiler warning up there seeing as how it gives away the most important momments of the anime.

It may seem fucked up and cheap (my original thoughts) but when I think about it, no. It was actually pulled off very well.

But it follows through with the After Story ending quite well.
