The July issue of Dengeki Bunko has revealed confirmation of a third season of J.C. Staff’s fan-favorite series, Shakugan no Shana.
Speculation and rumors over a likely third season has been brewing for some time now, but this is the first concrete confirmation through official channels of the new series.
As they often are with these sort of announcements, details are scarce, with some rumors even suggesting that the upcoming series will be a remake rather than a continuation from the second season, although that might seem far fetched.
Regardless of the exact details, this can hardly be seen as anything but joyous news for fans of the fiery-haired melon-pan lover.

Well, for some reason, I laughed.
The second season was worse than the first, I wonder the third will be much worse.
Anyways, I fucking adore Noizi Itou's artworks, I have gigabytes of them. And the OSTs of the Shana series was made by Ootani Kou, also an awesome artist. Too bad, the series still doesn't worth a crap.

have to seriously ask, is shakugan no shana good as an anime?? i watched a bit of both first and second season, and it never appealed to me, apart from good art/character/goods watever, is the story actually worth all that much for a 3rd season?
its story ideas are quite decent but its execution could be said sub par. that said, it has too much momentum to be cast away and it has enough positives to outweight its inherent negatives. Dont expect a masterpiece but its also very entertaining
The second season is fine if you skip the entire first cour.
The whole romance-drama bull shit in the first 13 episodes was terrible.

The 2nd season only started to be good when Yuji started stabbing things with Blutsauger and throw fireballs.

Finally.. a load off the shoulders... but seriously, Yuji's normally a chicken, hiding behing girls, and suddenly he's all badass, and ends up like Takumi from Chaos;Head, who, for the entire first 3/4 of the series, until the finale, seems like the detestable chicken, who has no balls, and in 10 minutes flat gets so badass, that he can be compared to Neo from the Matrix, that's how badass weak characters can get when they're mad... seriously though... the other guys can't even lift the damn sword, and he throws it into some guys chest... OMG and he starts having fireballs, abeilt a little weak...

I can't find any good dojinshi of Wilhimina & Margery. I don't think Shana's a Loli - just under developed.

The movie was certainly more accurate than the anime series, but Margery was still not supposed to show up at all. A remake would be nice because frankly almost every time they've deviated from the light novel, the results have been less than pretty. A full out remake that stayed true to the light novel would be wonderful since it would remove a lot of the complaints I see people giving the series when they know nothing about what is actually going in regards to their complaints.

Also... look at the new Fullmetal series. They're trying not to be the original version, while doing some of the same stuff, and are doing a bad job of it. The bits that are the same in both anime are far superior in the original.

I'd say all the themes, 'cept for season 1's ED 2, all the others were awesome. Made the show as a whole seem much better than it really was.

No, actually, that second season note is talking about Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, whose title is right above the text in that shot. The second season of that show was already previously announced, but an airdate had not yet been revealed. The issue *also* contains a mention of the coming Shana anime project, but that's not what the 2nd season and October date were referring to. (Now, there's a pretty good chance that Shana III will in fact air in October, but this screenshot isn't the proof it's purported to be in this post.)

Well, Dengeki Bunko is the publisher of the light novels, which Noiji Ito does the illustrations for, and this is Dengeki Bunko magazine that runs serialized Shana stories from the novels. So that's the usual art for the novel series, not the art for the anime.
Right - Noizi Ito is the light novel illustrator for both Shana and Haruhi.
I really enjoy her art style for both, too - something about the faces.
Yah, I really like Noizi Ito's designs... not only are the characters' designs good, the colour is light and mellow. I like that.

Well, that fact I'm aware of, and I have been grieving about both the first and second Shana series not using her character design. Why did they change it in the first place?
Because it'd be harder to anime a series in a different style to their own.
The problem with Itou's drawings is how sketchy they tend to me, also. If you look at some of the ones in the novels, they're just doodles.

Hmmmmmmmmm soooo, how is the love triangle (hehehe love triangle... 三角関係... SANKAKU kankei) gonna work out? Didn't Yuuji already pick Shana at the end of season II? They'd better not pull some shitty excuse and pretend that didn't happen.
They hand waved the ending of the first season, and they hand wave it again probably.
... I was kinda pissed off at that. I really wanted Yuuji x Shana. If they do that for the ending of season II, I will rage so hard.
I doubt they'll hand wave it completely since it is a lot harder to make that scene not happen in comparison to the ending of the first season, but as far as I remember, novel 15's high point was Yuji confessing his feelings for Shana and then proceeding to beat her down and take her to Seireiden. They do still have stuff to cover in between that happening, like Yuji getting quite depressed, though they've kind of killed the set up for it since the fight with Sabrac has already passed, and then making Yuji merge with the Snake of the Festival in order to turn him to Bal Masque's side and pull off the event above.
Haha haven't read the novels yet, so dunno how the plot is going... but then from your description there, I guess it IS possible to have a plot-driven excuse other than a "oh sorry, it was too loud and I didn't hear you" thing.

Hooray for Shana. She still remains my favourite character. I really hope they either remake the series to properly play out the light novel, where several of its better moments never managed to make it into the anime such as Yuji stabbing Wilhelmina with Blutsauger during the school festival after she tried to kill him and Shana, as well as to set things in proper order as things got messed up in the first season somewhat but aside from the ending, it wasn't that bad. The second season though... I still enjoyed it but its massive break off from the light novel really wasn't something that should have happened, but given how they had paced things it was expected.
If they do a third season, a few of my friends who are also into Shana were wondering just what they could do and I certainly agree that there isn't a lot of material to cover since there are only novels 17 and 18 to cover, as well as a bit at the end of 16 that needs to happen in order for the events of those two novels to make any sense. Regardless though, they've already covered at least 17 of the novels, since they also did SnS 0 during season 2 and that was at the point where most people noticed the anime got a lot better again for obvious reasons, so season 3 is either going to be a lot of annoying filler or very short. If they do go this path, hopefully they can get someone in charge who actually can create scenes worthy of acting as filler material, though that is very unlikely.
I'm pretty sure there are more than 20 light novels published(volume 0 included). The Anime so far has covered up to volumes 15-16, though not all of the material in the light novels were adapted into the Anime so it would be less than that.
Hopefully they either remake the second season or surprise us in the 3rd season.
There are 17 novels that are part of the main stoy and then 0, S, and S2 for a total of 20. The other 3 are just short stories compilations pretty much.
I see, well I hope they take those short stories into consideration instead of using filler, if at all possible.
They certainly could, but working them into the series in a manner that makes sense might prove challenging though that's never stopped them from some of the changes they've made before so who knows?

i didnt watch the 1st season(it wasnt airing on our local tv)but watched the 2nd one(cuz it was airing lol)
and it was like more talking and explaining and try to find some basic plot for those who didnt watch the first season then back to talking and explaining...
but i didnt mind(just watched it cuz nothing is showing on local tv) and i did understand the basic plot(about 20% of the overall story)and it was ok(ive seen worst)

Hmm. I'll check this out, for better or worse. If it has A Certain Magical Index animation quality, then great! But even so, if the story pacing is that of A Certain Magical Index (1 episode talking on a bridge, 1 episode on the phone, etc.) then I'm dropping it.
Also, they need to fix their terrible character animation. OGATA IS SUPPOSED TO BE TALLER THAN YUJI! Seriously! Don't draw her like she's 140 cm or anything!

Funny, i found Margery the most annoying and she's my least favourite in the show. The only reason i want her to stay in the show is to developt Sato's character. Hell, Ogata is a lot better than her.., and how i wish that twincest gothloli gets the blondie role instead.

Hopefully, the writers will learn that fans want more action between the love triangles liked Season 1. I will be watching this remake, or not. =3 The main point of the story is wonderful.
However, it's no surprise for a new Shana. The series is going strong in the market with novels and such I bet.
If they will continue from season 2, its probably going to be more overreacted. From the novels, Yuji becomes (ahem) and he becomes SnH and fights with "HlFa" (swap the capitals from the quote)

Second season kinda disappointed me when Shana never got to say "I love you".. --baka yuji for not hearing in 1st season-- Im sorry but Ike is really ruining the season.. Hope they come up w/ more better ideas for the third season XD

Wow, everybody hates...uh...what was her name? She's quite easy to forget. Not necessary at all. Shoulda been something like "I realized I was no match for Shana so I just decided to be in the background".
I wish that the third season (or whatever it ends up being) would instead be a straight adaptation of the source material, ike the new Hagane no Rekninjutsushi. No need to build a house on top of a crumbling foundation, just start again from the bottom up. Just don't forget the quality please. Moar quality.
