It's nothing unusual in these sports to fake personal information to have younger athletes compete against older ones in disciplines where flexibility and a small body can be beneficial or the other way around when more training/experience is preferable. China is especially notorious, cheating in the Olympics on a regular basis.
Apparently professional gymnasts have slower maturity growth rates if they have been training from before puberty.
Not sure why that is, but this could account for the loli bodies of many professional gymnasts.
yeah, the same applies for martial arts, training at young ages causes deformation of the developing muscles, which slows or even stunts growth
