    I've seen the below picture before, and tried it on myself as well. Now I could do it without instructions; it's just that easy. But the above instruction seems more confident for some situations, and for use on males, since it splits around the tackle.

    You'd texture it to make it appear like there were enough strands as well as color properly that it doesn't contrast between white and black so much unless you are really going for a girl that has alternating white and black hairs. If you're going for a lighting effect, you need to have more falloff for the shade instead of what seems to be static lines of color.

    It's more like the texture itself is bad. Hair could use a few more edge loops to round it out a bit more but that's just my tastes.

    Depends. The Japanese usually use ropes the length of 7 to 8 meters for the basic layer (Hishigata, Kikkou or Takate Kote [which already includes bound arms and hands]). Due to the generally larger body size of westerners you'd need about 8 to 9 meters though.

    That isn't a kikkou tie - that's the oft-confused diamond pattern. A kikkou tie uses two ropes per section per side to create the hexagon shapes found in tortoise shells, hence the name.

    Oh, also - the idea that the artist/modeler of the first picture may not have experience with rope bondage (thus more likely to confuse the terminology) is supported by their implementation of the bind. As they have shown it, the strands across her back will naturally slip into the narrower areas of her body and cause the entire tie to slacken, loosen and fall after even a small amount of movement.

    Unless it were glued in place, by the time she had been cuffed, chained and knelt down, the bind would have been long-ruined - with most of the rope hanging around her belly.

    My comment above was my first-ever post on Sankaku, so my chances of being on the IRC channel before you posted this were slim. :)

    To answer the second question: Even within Japan, the terminology for diamond and tortoise patterns for body harnesses are often confused. This is true of many other rope bondage terms and practices, also. (The body harness tie is overrepresented since it is usually used as shorthand representation for rope bondage by those who do not have experience of the art.)

    Quite true for the most part. The high ratio of JAVs that involves bondage in some way (compared to the rest of the world) suggests this. There are however genuine BDSMers out there who like it for the pleasure the woman feels (like me), and therefore it's still a legit fetish that doesn't deserve the amount of criticism it gets all the time.

    No, it's not spineful.

    Presuming the rapee/torturee is not a masochist, rape and torture are the application of unwanted force and violence by more powerful persons against weaker persons. Many times the victimizer is _artificially_ more powerful, i.e., the victimizer has a knife, gun, etc.

    In other words, it is NOT a "fair fight"; it's mega-extreme bullying.

    If the victimizer truly had a spine, s/he would pick an equal-level opponent, and not boost up their own relative power with weapons.

    Bullies are spineless cowards who won't engage in a fair fight.

    Improving your relative power by "acquiring an appropriate tool or strategic position" is an application of intelligence.

    If I get a gun, I improve my relative power over people who don't have a gun, but that doesn't make me stronger.

    My having a gun doesn't enable me to lift more weights at the gym (i.e., physical strength).

    My having a gun doesn't enable me to make it easier for me to endure losing a job, being dumped by g.f., etc. (mental strength).

    While I could choose to use my relatively-improved power over others to get things done (points gun, says, "You two -- lift those weights for me.") it doesn't make ME stronger.

    How people use - or don't use - their improved relative power is a moral issue.

    Good use:
    Man approaches me, pulls knife.

    Bad use:
