Still. I had to pay with cash at quite a few stores, but the most places in Akihabara seemed to take cards. But the charges did take over a week to appear on my card.

I work in the educational field (saying more then that is a little too much exposure for me to write in a net forum). I found the job on the internet. There are a lot of Japanese job searching sites out there. Needless to say you need to know fluent Japanese before applying.

Actually around 10 years ago, only the big stores in akiba accepted credit card. None of the medium or small ones accepted them and sometimes I was forced to go to the ATMs in the nearby banks to get cash, and even then not every bank's ATM accepted overseas cards. Also the japanese banks still lived in the stone age, the charges on the card would take over a month to be billed and appear in my statement!!! This happened for both physical an online stores.
