A survey with an impressive 6,000 participants yielded the following revelations as to which manga were thought most interesting by a general Japanese audience:
“Which manga do you think most entertaining?”:
1. One Piece
2. Dragonball
3. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
4. Golgo 13
5. Hagane no Renkinjutsushi Fullmetal Alchemist
6. Slam Dunk
7. Fist of the North Star
8. Hunter x Hunter
9. Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo
10. Doubutsu no O-Isha-san
11. Kuso Miso Technique
12. Gintama
13. Detective Conan
14. Nodame Cantabile
15. Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei
Via Itai News.
A credible ranking, though there are some surprising omissions (Naruto, Bleach and Death Note, for starters), not that many will be complaining….

nodame cantabile seems like an odd choice mixed in with the other mangas up there.
I notice that too. But is not a bad read by any means.
I thought the same.
But I guess every shounen fan has a side for a good serious story.
Nodame Cantabile is not a serious anime.
It is a comedy and besides a really good one.
there's no moeshit though.
The thing is its a music manga/anime and that reads interesting.
the anime is great, so the manga probably is as well (haven't read it, i should pick it up). i just think that it doesn't quite match up with the shounen theme that seems to be happening in that list. maybe that's the girls' pick?
The Noda anime is much better i think, because i actually get to hear what they're playing.
Nodame Cantabile has a huge following, especially amongst girls, but unlike most josei or shoujo, also has male fans.
Nodame catabile was very entertaining to me but im weird
Kind of expected One Piece...
one piece is on top of almost every chart
golgo 13 rocks
Seconded
as expected Dragon Ball still running strong in japan, and I love it <3
didn't expect Fist of the North Star and Slam Dunk though thats a bit turn around
Classics man, classics.
speaking of classics, where is Sailor moo-*is shot*
Slam Dunk was extremely popular when it was still running obviously still is. Lots of young people in Japan started playing basketball because of it.
And where is Mx0?
+1
+2
+2.68
+3.12
+ log -4
OH SHI-
Canceled... along with Double Arts...
*rage levels over 9000*
Damn them for canceling Double Arts just when it was going to get good.
Kuso Miso Technique
lol
Yes, wasn't expecting that
Who the hell did they ask though? lol
And talk about classics, where is Doraemon and other old works?
Conan is in there, cant believe is so low but I guess it only hits a few people as entertaining instead of interesting.
One Piece was expected, not surprised as its not great but it is one of the most entertaining. I'd still vote for Conan.
And HunterxHunter!? I enjoyed it as much as the next person but man that last Arc has sucked...
Wow. Japan's really fucked up.
やらないか?
yarou.
Ie eigen.
No taste: Confirmed
>BAWWWWWWWWWWWWW naruto is not there T_T
gtfo
u mad?
well i am happy it ain't!! but evangelion ain't there?
Hoorah! No Bleach and Naruto! Why they're even placed in the same light as One Piece is beyond my understanding!
Because they're all too long? (Not that I personally see that as a bad thing in the case of OP, just attempting to be objective.
I enjoy them all there's not much of a difference in them but the whacky designs in one piece.
Well... here's how it works.
-One Piece is a shonen action manga with a sense of humor.
-Bleach is a shonen action manga that used to have a sense of humor, albeit a different one. People decided back in the day that this meant Bleach was similar to One Piece. They never dropped the idea, even when Bleach entered Long-Runner Action Only Decay. (Long-ROAD, for short.)
-Naruto is a shonen action series in the grip of Long-ROAD. This means it is currently similar to Bleach. Since it's similar to Bleach, and Bleach is thought of as similar to One Piece, Naruto is thought of as similar to One Piece.
So, in other words... THESE FOOLS STILL AREN'T GIVING TOP BILLING TO MONSTER. GAAAAAAH. Which is completely non sequitur to the rest of my post, but it pisses me off because Monster was an awesome series. Long live the non-fanservice side of the seinen market.
shouldn't it be long-RAOD?
Japanese Otaku seem to be getting older lately.
And wiser.
Have you seen what we've bought recently :P Were not getting wise, were getting richer XD
if you've bought doesn't that mean poorer? you can buy the most expensive thing and that wont make you rich. And I'm not that old it's just a matter of a gap in culture or generation.
Yes they are
Heck yeah, Kuso Miso Technique at #11!
やらないか?
Oh no, you didn't.
one piece obviously #1 XD
anyways LOOOOOOOOOL
Kuso Miso Technique XDDDD
lol'd my ass off when i saw that
JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE FUCK YEAH!
That series is never ending. Gotta start it sometime.. Whenever I see the 70+ books lined up at the local comic store, I get an anurism.
ZA WARUDO!
MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!!!!
TOKI WO TOMARE!!
WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Soshite toki ga ugokidasu...
The only one I like is Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei only the anime though. I don't like mainstream stuff.
You do realize it being in the top 15 most entertaining manga makes it mainstream?
Who gives a shit if something is mainstream?
Kill
your
self.
... you dont like main stream yet you name is probly more main stream than anything.. contradictin much?
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei being an mainstream anime leaves me in despair....
You know, I woke up and thought what was missing from my life...
I found it. I just really needed to know that your taste aren't mainstream.
I'm not into mainstream stuff either but that doesn't mean I don't like them. And Zetsubou is more like a cult hit, it's ENTERTAINING. That's why most other manga arent there, most up there make you laugh or it's just so ridiculous it's entertaining. Hence, why JoJo's is up there <3
very nice! hunterxhunter is still in the opening 10 even after all these years! BTW nice picture. Too bad that in the actual series she looks like some kind of water pokemon. I don't care if OnePiece is the best anime ever made, it sure is ugly.
Who the hell said One Piece is the best anime ever made...it might be the longest (next to Conan)
it's the most ENTERTAINING.
I second that
Yeah HxH is probably the best one on the list. It's a shame the mangaka is too busy playing dragon quest all the time to give a damn about working on it.
Dude... how dare you... you do know he was almost dying right? And I disagree with that last arc, no matter what you try to explain it as it's boring and its very familiar to lots of stories.
Poor man, that must have been one hell of an injury in his hand to be dying from it.
Actually Togashi is very very sick. He has a very dangerous and contagious disease called laziness.
nah... actually he really is dying... his drawing style degrades compared to earlier ones.. you can also double check if you want.
Whoot! FMA is up there!
It should be too! Really, really emotional and overall awesome!~
FMA FTW!
I love, HxH, but sometimes there is WAY to much explanation going on, I don't want to read 4 chapters about how your Little Nen banking angel thingy works (real thing)
The lack of Naruto is kinda sad though, but all the cool kids love to hate on it :D
Your kidding right? Naruterd is one of the most retardest things next to Twilight.
I dont get the hate on naruto..
Just because some retard kids online are ass and fanoi to the series doesn't mean you can't appreciate the drawing style and plot.
It's a good series that's entertaining, and that's all it matters.
I read it and couldn't get past the first chapter. (Like Negima?!) The drawing style is pretty bad, and it seems to go on and on forever. >.>;;
And, ninja's do not wear bright colours.
The retarded fans aren't the reason why people don't appreciate the drawing style and plot. I don't see how anyone can hate the drawing style because of the fans, but IMO the drawing style was better in the early chapters. People don't appreciate the plot because it's a bad plot. It's not a good and entertaining series, it's an OK series that had potential but got ruined by bad writing.
The plot probably got lost in translation, because from what I read it's pretty good.
And why can't ninjas wear bright colors?
It's just bias and hollywood brainwashing.
It's kind of difficult to sneak around and assasinate people when you stick out like a sore thumb. Back in the Edo period, they wore the same sort of clothing other people wore, especially japanese peasantry. Naruto is the first show I've seen where ninja were depicted as having dressed like electrical workers.
Well dont you see lots of electrical workers working out on the streets fixing telephone wires, cables, etc, etc
As far as I can see Naruto is a modern day ninja, no one is stupid enough to think a kid in a orange jump suit could be a deadly assassin :P
Naruto is a fine work.
Fine work indeed. And I have to agree with ash_ka_chan. Infact no I don't like the drawing style is too mixy it's not old nor new and it changed too much, it looks like the author is only doing the characters and the assistants are doing the rest.
And no the plot was interesting. WAS, now it's just a mess, sorry it has some things interesting but lack of any depth in the plot at all.
Modern day? I have to disagree, it's like modern day mixed with uhh isolation? I mean it's like China when they closed themselves off from the world. it completely matches the drawing style which I dislike. I rather old style ninja like Basilisk where the powers are just as absurd but it has depth.
naruto manga is fine work anime is another story most narutards out there like the anime not the manga
I dunno. I read the manga and I give it like a C-. The plot has been doing irrational backflips for a while; it started out with, gasp! Stereotypes! However, the main characters started to overcome their adversities. Sakura accepted her weakness, Naruto overcame his anxiety, and Sasuke started letting people into his life.
Now, flip ahead a bunch of chapters. Sasuke hates everyone again for no apparent reason, Sakura has gone back to being totally useless and devoid of any character, and Naruto can't stop b'awwing long enough to move on with his life.
Skip ahead a ton more chapters and we have a ton of DEM, crappy fight scenes and general bullcrap.
Narudoh is a good manga the only thing wrong with it would be the anime. The filler are rather toxicating, not the greatest plot but still interesting with time to time awesome battles.Read the manga rather than watching the anime.
And anyway, there is little historical evidence that the "Ninja" class existed. There were Japanese assassins, sure, but there were assassins in every country through the world's history.
People love to point Mansen Shukai (1676) as evidence. However, just because it was written in 1676 doesn't make it historical proof. The Mansen Shukai (万川集海) is not history; just read the table of contents and you can tell that much. It's a compilation of "ninjutsu" techniques, kind of like a martial arts manual. Considering that the term "ninjutsu" wasn't even really coined until after the Edo period started, that makes it suspect to start with. Remember, specialized martial art "schools" in Japan with their "kata" and "waza" were quite rare pre-Edo, and barring a handful, didn't exist--people trained in overall military matters (horsemanship, spearmanship, riflery, etc) like modern "boot camp" instead of specializing in one "jutsu" exclusively. It wasn't until the peace of the Edo (and hence, the lack of a need for any "ninja" in the first place) that martial arts changed from pure military training to the kind of strict codified martial arts we see today. That doesn't make the Mansen Shukai useless--it's valuable in learning how the Sengoku/Momoyama equivalent of "special ops" would be undertaken, but it doesn't make a single step towards proving the existence of ninja clans training in the mountains and hiring their services out to whatever samurai would take them. Nobody denies that ninja in the form of "regular samurai performing espionage missions" existed; it's the "separate" clans of "ninja" that focused solely on training in "ninjutsu" and hiring themselves out like mercenaries that is highly suspect.
And the sad part is: We will never know if Artefact was being ironic (like usual), or serious.
I read all the twilight books, and I thought they were decent. Than all the publicity started and I got horrible sick of all of it. They kept on pushing though, and now I despise the entire series.
Plus, the movie was an epic failure.
I never bothered to watch the anime or the side comics. I just follow the main comic's plot.
Wouldn't know about the epic failures there then.
Garvey:
That's pretty much what happened to me. Honestly, the writing style isn't all that bad for a beginer.
And the sparkling vampires got to me.
Naruto is fine in my opinion. The story is constantly moving along and the plot is going somewhere. It aint perfect but still pretty interesting really. I hate the anime because I think a fair bit of hate is due to that. The nature of it being a long running series means there are tons of fillers and most of that are shit.
I can't say the same for Bleach though. Started off quite well but now it is just... sad. I call it posing and bleeding manga. 5 pages of actual stuff happening and lots of standing around and posing... with blood running down. Yeah, intriguing stuff -_-
FUCK YEAHHHRRR!!!
Naruto's great as well as twilight
uh naruhoes is okay but in the secound half the way he acts makes me think hes in love with sasugey:(
Yea, i fukken love HxH too but the extreme number of texts and explaination is simply a turn off.. No need to mention that the recent chapters have unecessary blocks of texts floating around panels what which makes HxH look like a light novel instead of a manga.
The unexpected twists saved it all though.
One Piece is awsome, been following it since the first book.
I'm surprised some classics like Yakuza Story (內衣教父) aren't on there.
hell yeah, golgo 13!
Horrible list, some good titles though.
most interesting by a general Japanese audience
^This. General audience don't really like the crappy shits that is overrated like Death Note
Why is everyone assuming that anyone complaning about the list here, MUST be because the lack of Naruto/Bleach/Death Note?
I think that Negima should be on this list. It's not the best manga but it's very entertaining.
XD it is but not its not made for a general audience.
Yea that's a very good point. I was thinking why isn't the Negima manga in the list there when it is definitely more entertaining than a few titles up in the list there...but 10 years old won't understand why it is entertaining or interesting.
I remember I used to love shonen stuff like Dragonball and some robot anime, and there was about it. I only became interested in romance, drama type manga/anime title when I became older...
To be honest, I think the manga of Negima has grown a lot in terms of the plot...it's really amazing how much depth it has became from it's initial inspiration of Harry Potter to now a world of its own.
It's good to see plot becoming better and better, unlike titles such as Bleach and Naruto which the author don't even know what they are doing or should do with their stories anymore...
>I only became interested in romance, drama type manga/anime title when I became older…
I forgot to mention echii/fanservice XD
naruto has past it's prime...bleach has it's moments...but that was like 2-3 years ago...
hail One Piece!!!
negima was good...no doubt...but to put it in a top ten list kinda asking too much...there's too many ecchi harem manga already...choosing "which one is better" depends entirely on ur choice/taste in genre...so to say "negima is the best" entitled to ur opinion....at least IMHO...
Was? Negima is still going on and constantly getting better unlike most long lasting series. While Negima started out as an ecchi harem manga, the mangaka was able to successfully transition it into a shounen (though still very ecchi). Negima isn't the best but it's also not over yet.
I think Akamatsu did a great job the way he transitioned Negima into a shounen. I started reading a manga that was like Love Hina mixed with Harry Potter and before I knew it I was reading Dragon Ball mixed with Tenchi Muyo. I liked Negima when it was an ecchi harem but I love it as an ecchi shounen (though I do wish that it would focus a little more on previously established harem elements).
apart from this
3. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
4. Golgo 13
all others are shit
If anon said it, then it must be true!!!
...or not?
r u talking to urself
I've been following One Piece, Naruto and Bleach but seriously OP is the only one I look forward to each week... lately the other two just don't keep people interested that well. I mean look at how little happens in each chapter...
are you kidding i alwys look forward to bleach! one piece is just so danm long its to daunting!
You think One Piece is long??? You must have never heard of Kochikame! 164 volumes and it's STILL fucking going on!
What!!!!!!!!
no Naruto. Naruto is entertaning...for me atleast.
it lost its magic, or ninjutsu if you prefer
I wonder what would be the top 15 in other countries?
You had to ask:
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/03/15/manga-in-america-naruto/
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/12/18/top-5-manga-overseas-%E2%80%93-2008-april-to-july/
Naruto would take the top two spots.
Fist of the North Star.. But where is Hajime no Ippo!?
Nice to know that KochiKame is still a favourite. That manga has been running since I was born
Where are all these lovely images coming from? Boa Hancock, and this Nami in particular
http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/
All fairly good manga, i dont see how this is really news...of course its really hard to consider any of the other stuff on this site as "news" XD
You have a lot to learn.
Please teach me Artefact-sensei :3
Nice list, I kinda expected to see Berserk, after those 20+ years running, but i guess it's getting lamer and lamer on every semestral chapter
I have no complaints about One pieace being #1.
I'm happy Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei is on the list since its one on the only mangas that i ever liked enough too actually go out and buy
This survey is too biased because I have read better manga than these sucky ones.
Cry some more.
And no matter what, personal opinions are the one that is biased, surveys are not
I don't read like 80% of those... I usually read comedy and/or romance stuff online. Rarely action.
Pretty much the same here.., i prefer something like more light one. And my friends often ask me why i read Kodomo No Jikan, Toradora!, and Ichinensei Nanchattara instead of Naruto, Onepiece and Bleach..
Exactly. I kind of like my manga/anime to have a point, not a seemingly endless stream of chapters/episodes.
(All those series you listed are great. Didn't know anybody else reads ichinensei)
I read none of these... I usually read ecchi or eromanga online. Anything else is too full of unnecessary drama and silly plots, cliches, unoriginality, cookie cutter character designs, and they actually try to be serious about it...
besides, if I checked out stuff like one piece or blech it'd be for nami and matsumoto respectively, but they have too little of them in the mangas compared to all the other BS.
Yeay! Ichinensei Ni Nachattara rules!! Its sooo funny!! And cute! :D
Ugh, the most popular anime/manga always tend to be the most long-running ones. I wish there were more good graphic-novel type, shorter mangas, like GitS. Shorter stories tend to have better pacing and less bullshit, and best of all they're short, for people like me who have no time to read manga :(
anyone have any recommendations on any awesome manga I can check out?
so... do shorter mangas exist these days even? Even maybe a series that had a predetermined and precise length? Like 12 mangas in the series?
You can't go wrong with Mitsuru Adaichi not all his manga are short but still one of the best author around.
Thanks.. well, I looked him up, but dramatic baseball stories just don't sound too interesting to me, nor does his other stuff. Never understood the appeal of similar mangas like slam dunk and prince of tennis either. Also, can't say I find his art style very appealing...
Where is... berserk? D:
the author was being a dick to it's fan...they prolly ditch it...
Huzzah~ Hunter X Hunter is on the number 8~!!!
Now quickly end the Chimera Ant arc and please bring us back Kurapica and my Shizuku (as well as the Genei Ryodan), Togashi-sensei..
Sorry who is Shizuku I forgot?I like Hisoka voice the most.
The evil silent meganeko girl who wields a special Vacuum Cleaner. If Togashi kills her like how he did with Ponzu, that will be the last time i read HxH.
FUCK YEAHH!!!! NO NARUTO, NO BLEACH!!!!
If there is a manga in Jump you can call simply entertaining is One Piece, with HxH coming second
Again I know I'm repeating this but I can hardly call that last Arc entertaining. the rest heck yeah. I really hope it doesn't hit rock bottom... though that last chapter did leave some cliffhanger but thats about it, not entertaining anymore.
Death Note not being up there is rare, it was surely entertaining but I'm glad it isnt, I guess it means people are forgetting about it.
Well I can say I still enjoy One Piece a lot. I mean every chapter makes you excited for the next one, even if you can see the end from I mile away.
And I also hope HxH doesnt hit rock bottom. Maybe its the stupid hiatus, but oh well....
DN is not up there maybe because it isnt neither a stereotypical shonen or a comedy. Its not for everyone out there (you have to pay a lot of attention, details, a lot of thinking, psychological things, etc, etc.)
Don't forget Gintama. Though comedic, when it wants to be serious, it WILL be serious. Then go back to being funny. I recomend it.
So do I.I also recomend the anime, they are becoming more popular than they were when they started.Even after 150+ episode it's still good.
Been catching up on the Gintama anime, pretty amusing.
KUSO MISO!???
YARANAIKAAAAAA!!!
I see they don't like naruto and bleach.
Can you blame them?
FUCK YEAH GOLGO
i do find the lack of death note surprising since that actually was a great series.
LOL @ Kuso Miso Technique.
The Japanese have good taste.
I expected Naruto to be here... Kinda surprised how its not here...
YOU ARE SHOCK!!!! Glad HNK made it in the top 10.
Oda style is cool. Or do all like the 90% like the others copie each other. you can say i don't like to style and the coloring but this is still the master piece. No bulshit moe moe stuf but good action + super cool story !!!
one piece rulez....
if the survey was in america number 1.2.3 will be those 3 titles mentioned above
Fuck yeah Jojo!
Yare Yare Daze.
One Piece pwns, and that's all you need to know.
Boo! Where's Yuyu Hakusho?
booo!
The ending killed it.
Yaranaika?
ah lame gintama's so low on list =/
No Saint Seiya? Gotta Pegasus Meteor Punch the poll workers.
Heehee Kuso Miso is on there.
But honestly Gintama and SZS are the only ones on there I care about. I could care less about One Piece, personally, and I have tried over and over and over again to like it but I just can't. Oda's good at being goofy and creating detailed worlds, but not ones that can draw me in well enough.
One Piece: Yes
Dragonball: As long it is not the DBZ half
Hunter X Hunter: Love the story, hate the author
Gintama: 'Eff Yes!!!
Actually I'm surprised that Naruto and Bleach aren't in the list (not that I wanted them to be there).
The only manga I care about in that list are Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Nodame Cantabile and I'm glad that they seem to be quite popular.
What happen to Ranma,H2,Black jack,Urusei Yatsura, Nana and Godzilla? Then I realise this is not my list, Oh well.
Oh wait where is Narudoh and Beach?
NANA has no action and way to much drama to be on a list of the most entertaining (not best) manga.
only thing keeping me reading Naruto is cause I've been reading it for too long already. It's really bad, both plot and drawings imo. I don't even know why it became so popular here in the US.
I don't get HunterxHunter too. It started off with a really strong start, but now it feels like the author is half-assing it. I already gave up that one.
Surprised Yu Yu Hakusho isn't on the list.
Some of you guys don't get it, too. SLAM DUNK was HUGE! YEAH! Grew up with it, and I still love it till this day. JOJO too.
forget to mention:
ONE PIECE is a MASTERPIECE!
Naruto is popular in the US because the fangirls think the male characters are, and I quote, "smexy".
The male characters usually have at least one trait that fangirls love.
1. bishounen good looks (even the non-bishounen ones are somehow morphed by a fangirls "bishie vision")
2. a tragic past (so common in Naruto that it makes me wonder how certain characters think they're more special because of it when most characters had it just as bad, if not worse)
3. emo (most likely cause by their tragic past which should be called an average ninja childhood)
4. wears make-up (a ninja needs to look fabulous at all times)
5. has a very strong emotional bond with another male character (usually a little too strong if you ask me)
wow.. that completely resumes the fangirl rage I have with Naruto
sayonara zetsubo sensei! *_*
Golgo 13!!!
Fuck yeah, I saw the anime in mid '80s as a kid. Real cool violence and sex scenes.
Hey, maybe that's why I'm a fucked up geezer now...
No Naruto and Bleach, YEAH seems like people are using more brain cells. Please don't put one piece with those 2 garbage totally different.
Honestly, I think you all hate these only because they're so popular. So it's inconsenquential if these are out/in, since all your hate is not determined by the manga in question, but its popularity and amount of retarded fans. The names would just change according to the situation. Other mangas would be being hated here, if Bleach and Naruto weren't so popular in the West.
WTF? Kuso Miso Technique (Sh3t Miso Tech.) beat Conan, Gintama, and Nodame!! Is the Yaoi/fecalphiliac fangirl/boy population that influential?
I'd never heard of it and decided to check it's wiki. WTF is right. Or more like LOL.
"The short manga is a famous meme on the internet (Japanese internet forums especially), largely considered the representative work of Yamakawa and responsible for the revived popularity in his works."
That basically explains it. Never doubt the power of internet memes.
kuso miso technique ROFL
uho! ii otoko..
awesome Kintama ftw
YARANAIKA YES.
I'm surprised azumi wasnt on the list I prefer it to naruto,but berserk isnt on it either -.-;
Thank goodness Naruto and Bleach aren't in it.
No disrespect to the more decent folks who likes them (they're different from the more extremely rabid "tards" of all nationalities), but I'm just getting sick and tired with its ever dragged out storyline already, I'm amazed I'm still following the series, simply because I always insist on finishing what I've started, no matter how inadvertedly. Perhaps even this will change as I grow even older.
If I spend too long watching them in one go, a few brain cells would fry, which is why I totally avoid their fillers now.
No offence to their authors, who are no doubt hard working and talented artists who sadly has become the victims of their own successes.
Anyway, most titles on the list are pretty much expected, like FMA, Conan, Nodame alongside the likes of Dragonball, One Piece and Fist of North Star. Though I'm not too familiar with 9, 10 and 11.
I constantly see no. 10 "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo" in the Shounen Jump roster, is it a long running slapstick series. Wonder what's that about?
No suprise that One Piece is 'the One Piece' but the trouble is that there's too much violence and blood nowadays, and missing a bit of fun and adventure.I wanted more fun and adventure with less violence.
it's great to see Gintama be on the list, and I'm not surprised that Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Slam Dunk are on there. although I am surprised-like most other people-that others such as Doraemon, Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, etc. aren't on their. oh well~
those 6000 people never reads gantz i guess
Fuck yeah! One Piece!
boya go One Piece. Its the bomb. Gintama is in there too now im happy.
Naruto started like a total rip off of One Piece in the "tragic pasts" and the "I wanna be the most important known in my world!" but it got more interesting in his own way. But now is getting way to slow for some fans, and I agree... The desings are kinda messy some times. So I think it's ok if it isn't in this list.
Bleach was great at first as well... Now is getting a lot of action and shonen fights... Awesome fights, boring plots. xD
Death Note IS awesome, but when you see other "Intelligence" series (GITS in example) you realize that Death Note was nothing but a teenager logistic battle.
One Piece is right to be there 'cause of this:
1.- It started a "Dragon Ball" type of protagonists WITH emotional things...
2.- It makse you laugh if you like the characters.
3.- It has VERY original and out of the lot desings.
4.- When you think that it can't surprise you anymore... It surprise you.
Away from this. JOJO's rlz. So does Hokuto No Ken. And the all time loved Kochikame!
why Full Metal Alchemist not to be in number One anime?
I think it has own very original story..
the comedy is also good..
not to much but very funny..
the serious and sad moment are also shown very good..
wtf! no gantz! no tenjho tenge! no air gear! no death note! aaaahhhhgggg!!!!!!!! fuck japan!
Well, Gantz is good.
kinda fucked up my brain, tho. especially when that awesome big tittied chick got hit with the religious acid shit and you could see her insides D: I was sick for a week and decided not to watch more
"A credible ranking, though there are some surprising omissions (Naruto, Bleach and Death Note, for starters), not that many will be complaining…."
I guess the western equivalent of this survey will have these 3 in the list...probably
How can anyone consider Hunter x Hunter entertaining?
1-ok
2-shit
3-ok
4-ok
5-nah
6-ok
7-YES
8-no
9-...
10-...
11- wait, what?

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei is becoming more ad more awesome, damn i miss the old School Rumble :/
It's sad that good anime series have only 1 or 2 seasons while Naruto/Bleach etc. get to be 100,200,300..episodes. It's like "Bald&Beautifull" being aired for 20 years and Futurama being cancelled after 4th season. Crap sells better and longer, maybe it's because crap isn't going to get worse or burn out. You can add new opponents, allies, techniques and stuuf almost forever, but it's hard to keep a good humor and plot quality for many seasons.
Naruto has a decent plot/story.
Bleach is alright too... Story wise.
And Futurama was actually a stupid cartoon with no plot whatsoever... So I'm surprised you even mentioned it.
And yeah... opponents/allies/techniques etc. can be endlessly... but you're forgetting that both naruto and bleach have a main enemy, though naruto's story isn't even so much based on their opponents but on the story between sasuke and naruto (imo).
I think I may actually use this list to check out some of the manga's. (in the future, when I have time :P)
And to be honest I recently acquired the Slam Dunk manga already, so that's neat :)
dude one piece sucks.it's for people that are just getting into anime and don't know which ones are good
