Funny, I was listening to Anata no Oto when I first noticed the news.

This is my kind of news. And this is certainly my kind of vocaloid news. I'll be sure to become massively obsessed with this when it comes out.

I'll have to slightly disagree just because it's often hard to get really top vocal talent because they're in such high demand. A good synthesizer substitute would be good for tight budgets and schedules.

This is similar to how synths can often be used in lieu of actual orchestras or live instruments in some video games.

Actually I have always thought about this. Why didn't they sample from great singers? Well the whole point of this program is to emulate different singing styles and techniques. If the person can already sing very well to begin with, the program would just seem redundant. So it is probably better to showcase the power of the program with someone who has a good voice but not a great singer.

Granted Megumi isn't as great a singer as May'n, she is still pretty good. So I think the choice is simply a matter of popularity in this case.
