It looks as though Dragonball anime Dragonball Kai is receiving some less than welcome revisions in the form of the removal of shattered bodies spurting blood, something sure to disappoint gore-hungry fans.
Such wanton violence may no longer be acceptable, at least on normal TV broadcasts.
Perhaps it will reappear in the DVD release?

stuff like this is making the show even more redundant than it already is. wasn't the point of this show to more faithfully adhere to toriyama's original concepts since what eventually hit televisions across the world was extremely censored, edited, and diluted with inane filler? sometimes i feel like i'm one of the last standing fans of the franchise and decisions like this make it harder and harder for me to defend the show to my peers.

Hokuto No Ken was totally censored in Japan 20 years ago. All death were black on red background.
Only the 1968 movie was really gore, but it was half censored with some rather strange computer effects and shinny blood.

I read somewhere they were giving DBZ a few new scenes including something about child Goku, and they mentioned they were going to censor Goku's penis because they didn't want to draw it anymore. I laughed a little. Although, I'm thinking maybe they're not sure how parents will react to something like that nowadays, and so that's why they're censoring it? Is it possible they're all getting a bit too sensitive? Needless to say, it wasn't that much of a big deal back in the....was it the '80s? Those were good times...
To be honest, I was disappointed to read that--the penis thing, I mean--because it was that kind of stuff that gave Dragon Ball a certain innocent charm to it. It's hard to explain, but I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean.

As far as I know, the editing of DB Kai closely follows what happened in the manga. In the manga, the death of Raditz and Gokou was not really bloody. In fact, the screenshot of Raditz and Gokou's deaths in DB Kai follows what happened in the manga.
While in DBZ in the early 90's, Toei added blood to that scene to make it more gruesome.
Hence, the editing of that scene in DB Kai is justified...
They will release on blu-ray, after all this is 1080p. So I hope they don't do this shit there too. FUCK the kids and HARD. Yeah, I love lolis, so?
