PS3 Tales of Vesperia Hugely Upgraded

rita-mordio-portrait.jpg

Tales fans who have been awaiting Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 will not be disappointed; a significant array of upgrades to the game has been announced.

The upgrades planned:

The game’s main scenario will be enhanced with the addition of full voicing throughout.

New events and sub-scenarios will be added, along with many extra skits.

Additional ougi will be added.

Extra costumes will feature.

Events connected with the movie will be added.

As we saw, there will also be a new character, Patty Fleur, a piratically themed loli.

Presumably graphical upgrades will also feature.

Via Hachimaki.

PS3 Tales fans are thanking the Xbox 360 beta testers for their troubles in ensuring the PS3 version offers the best possible Tales experience for them to enjoy…

I hope that OnLive does a better job than Phantom did since it´s basically the same thing.

Phantom died a ugly death and for some reason it is rarely discussed.

I will believe this OnLive when I see it, not before hand. And with all the trouble there is they have to fix a lot of stuff. Which I don´t think they will do.

Either/or is acceptable, and yes fps is not as good on console as it is PC, only because of the constraints of the control medium. Back in the day Goldeneye 007 was the shit.

"Constraints"? Yes, because I want to fly through a game with such precise aiming, that every opponent shall fall to my feet because of my 'elite' sniper skills. It takes a real player to pull off a perfect head-shot with a shitacular thumbstick. For sure.

It takes real skill to pull off 'a' perfect head-shot with a shitacular thumbstick. Hmm...that all sounds like what I said, or rather that what I said doesn't deny any of these points.

However...I'd like to see how you play FPS that have no "point" to them like CS:S, BF2142 or TF2 consistently well with a thumbstick. Not that there was anything particularly wrong with the thumbstick, but you will get owned by players equally as skilled with a mouse/KB.

Most gaming artciles I read from you are either hoping for a PS3 version or trying to degrade 360 owners...

I owned this game for the 360, and while it was a fun romp, it's certainly not worth double dipping on for a few additional features that have no bearing on the main story, especially when it's released a year later when most people are done and dusted with it and traded it in like myself.
It's great news for PS3 owners of course, and the additions make up for the long wait, but I hardly think 360 owners will lose much sleep over the news.

I own all 3 consoles so I can get the best each has to offer, and from developers all over the world, however, this gen, I have to say 360 has lead the way in terms of JRPG's, which is the only real concern for me in terms of Japanese games (not including the obvious well known brands that make it multi-format worldwide anyway).
PS3 seems to be getting most of them a year later, with additions of course, but I'd much rather play them as they're released and then move onto other stuff, unless of course they're absolute gems, which tbh, hasn't happened so far this gen, but if it did, I'd double dip on a PS3 version.

Critical coverage is not a catch all phrase to disguise your personal agenda of putting down the 360 for the PS3. Nor is a moral blanket to comfort yourself when you play the role of a deprived RPG fan spoiling for a fight.

The only thing ps3 has is a few lukewarm exclusives that dissapoint all the "hardcore" gamers (RE5, MG4 and DM4). I waited for so long for these games to come out. They did and they were all shadows of what made them great.

Whats left? Multiplatform games that ALWAYS look better and have better online on the 360 than the ps3.

Like you I await the various ff13's I am sure. There was a time where sony would have my undying devotion just based on the exclusives... not anymore. The days of sony owning all the major exclusives are long gone. (gone with good reason - common sense prevails)

Then ToV comes out on ps3 and a flaming war ensues. ToV sucks. ToV sucks hard. It wont help the ps3 much. It will in the sense that RPG lovers are deprived (as am I), so they'd buy anything.

I have all 3 consoles... maybe if I had just one of them, I could be a little homo too and do whatever I could to defend the one purchase I could afford... Seriously, theyre all equally good. Sony is just better at hype.

You on the other hand just suck. Stop reviewing games cause you can't. Just post random puke on random forums like all fanboys do.

Its no more real then any other version of Vesperia.

There will of course be some added material in the hope that 360 owners will double purchase. But overall, some may not want to collect their 2nd copy of Vesperia for just a handful of extras.

Your happiness is good and I'm happy for you but this doesn't diminish our ability to enjoy what we already have done.

Have a good time with Vesperia. We're moving on to newer titles. I don't know how much time you dedicate to your gaming, but there's always something else I want to play. Aside from S04 and im@s, I hope to finish koitake before dream club comes out. I can't possibly return to every title that gets a couple of extras.

If this becomes a trend, then many 360 titles are going to appear on the PS3 in about a year or so after their 360 debut. If that's what you hope, then you might want to hope Vesperia sells really well. And also that a reasonable amount of 360 owners double purchase.

Be nice to 360 owners, you need their help if you want to have more old 360 titles ported over.

I wouldn't mind if a few PS3 ones drop our way too.... Disgaea is awfully cute.

I hate console wars. Actually, I hate companies that release games on only one platform. I liked it better when all you needed was one system if you were looking to play genre "fill-in-the-blank" games. (Atari, NES, SNES, N64, PS2). I'm planning on getting a PS3 (to play RPGS, mainly JRPGs) but it irks me to know that regardless of which next-gen system I get there will be games I want to play available only on the other system.

They need to make nice and marry their console departments so I can buy a PSBOX.

You know what developers want from you the most? money, money and only money. They dont care if the game brings you satisfaction, they dont care about disregarding half of the promises they make when announcing the game, and of course they dont care about your wishes as long as ppl pay money. So, be a good boy, and buy every console out there to satisfy their greed. Or better yet, just fuck them all.

If you're getting it mainly for JRPGs, wouldn't you get the 360 instead? I play mainly RPGs as well, and I have 3 JRPGs for the PS3 and 10 for the 360.

For JRPG... better go back to the PS2, PSOne and SNES. So sad... the actual gen of consoles is sad, sacchin, alice, china, sad.

Can’t wait for this to come out now. Too bad I can’t get it right away. There’s too many good games I need to play, so this one will have to wait. It’s definitely not because I don’t have any money and am completely broke. Definitely not it.

Personally, no. It's starts off fairly well, but goes majorly downhill mid-game and doesn't ever really recover.

It got to the point where I just sped through the rest just to finish and move on to the next game.

Vesperia is only bad if you don't like the characters.

Yes, the plot is nothing to write home about, but the characters are some of the best Tales has ever produced.

Saved the game for me. Best Tales after Phantasia.

    11:56 07/04/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

Really? I would rank the first Symphonia (as overrated as it is) and Abyss over Vesperia.

The only character I really cared for in ToV was Rita though.

Yuri was like...for a lack of a better reference, Jack Bauer. You got your naive princess, screwup turned reliable, girl performing her duty, staple beast character that was just there and staple Raven character type (whom I will not discuss due to spoilers)

    Comment by Kaisos
    12:43 07/04/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

See. Raven was fucking awesome. So was Judith. And the dog. Sure, Karol sucked but he got a lot better, and Estelle was a white mage who used a sword. That alone...

It was how they took stereotypical characters and made them interesting that I really liked.

And Yuri being Jack Bauer is a bad thing?

Also, I thought Symphonia was terrible, but that was because I hated the entire cast. So very, very much.

Oh and half the plot was a Final Fantasy X ripoff. The other half was directly from Phantasia with a less cool villain.

I can agree with pretty much everything you said, except that YurixEstelle are not TidusxYuna. The latter couple even had a kiss scene, for crying out loud! And it was very touching too.

I eagerly await for its release in America; I have a PS3, so no worries there.

    Alexei and Zagi deserve respect?

I can imagine a subquest involving Zagi's backstory, but not Alexei. He's too traditional serial villain.

Duke, however, has a lot of respect bestowed upon him by both the game and the characters, and he has this big series of subevents throughout half the game that's easily missable, but expands upon him a fair bit.

    That's good. I approve.

I might not find the desire to replay Vesperia yet again for a handful of extras, especially if i have to pay for another copy of Vesperia, but i'm happy more people get to enjoy it.

This will boost fanart, doujins, and all sorts of positive externality spillovers.

Might have to visit nico if some of the extra skits are really worth watching.

So how many multi system owners will buy the PS3 copy *as well* for the handful of extras?

Reason why I love playing these games is not solely for storyline but more emphasis on the battle system usually. It's probably my only favorite action rpg's that's easy to learn but can still be a challenge on some things. Try it, it's tons of fun and a good time-killer ^^
