
Rising actress Jang Ja-yeon, who was currently starring in the Korean drama adaptation of Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers), was recently found to have committed suicide at her home in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province.
Jang’s death marks the third celebrity suicide to hit the Korean entertainment industry in the past 6 months.

A recent event in Nagoya was held for itasha – cars carefully decorated to appeal to otaku sensibilities, while at the same time becoming repellent to commoners and thus earning the name of itasha, “pain cars”.

At the Modern Toilet, a popular Taiwanese restaurant chain, currently expanding into China and other parts of Asia, patrons pay for the privilege of eating curry, pasta and chicken served from plates bearing more than a passing resemblance to toilets.
Drinks come in cups shaped like mini urinals. Better yet, the shaved ice desserts come on dishes shaped liked squat toilets with names like “diarrhea with dried droppings” (chocolate), “bloody poop” (strawberry) and “green dysentery” (kiwi).

The new look Hello Kitty, or now known as “Visual-kei Hello Kitty” was created by owner Sanrio specifically for this tour.

Police have come under fire after it emerged they stopped a schoolboy for interrogation, as he was wearing a dark veil, and then asked him if he was a member of the Taliban, the former Islamist rulers of Afghanistan, adding insult to injury.
His veil was in fact due to being afflicted by porphyria, an illness rendering the skin highly susceptible to the sun.
