The previously announced and much anticipated Misaka Mikoto gaiden anime, entitled “A Certain Scientific Railgun” (or something to that effect) has been dated with an unexpectedly early release, surprising fans.

The anime will begin airing in October 2009; length is not mentioned, but the addition of a variety of thus far unseen characters is.

Fans are most pleased, as a 2010 release had been feared.

Louise is a second-rate tsundere though. Goes far too heavy into the region of tsun while not offering enough dere to balancec it off, and when she does show her dere side, you're more inclined to facepalm at its stupidity instead of enjoying it.

Shana on the other hand offers a healthy balance between tsun and dere in addition to being genuinely cute when she shows off her softer sides.

Shana is stupid, the entire first season sucked hard and even the fans complained about the second one. No third season needed!

louise is brilliant and manages to stay it over the seasons. A miracle I'd say.

biribiri ehm Misaka is average, just a secondary char. Nothing special. (currently at ep 19 from index)

    So this makes

    Shana <<<<< Misaka << Louise

You do not seem to realize that one season of Shana is two seasons of Louise.

    Chen, read the books then.

Regardless, for discussing the animes... The two seasons for Shana changed a lot of the stuff up, especially in the second season, yet Shana herself still managed to maintain her charm. I'm not going to try to argue the anime itself was perfect, because why bother arguing over a flawed interpretation of the light novels. Hell, the later seasons of ZnT suffered even worse from adaptation decay in my eyes, but most people pushed it to the side because of LOL FANSERVICE.

Maybe it's just because I prefer the girls I like to be cute instead of bitches who serve as a dream come true for someone's masochistic tendancies?

I agree with pretty much everything Bastille said.

Violent tsundere is do. not. want.
And Louis's dere side was pretty lackluster. Shana season 1 was great imo, the second season was decent if you skip the first 12 episodes.

The thought of Louise being the "Queen of Tsunderes" makes me facepalm.

Louise wasn't tsundere, she was just a bitch. Five seconds of restrained smiles does not a tsundere make.

Well the first half of the second season was pretty much original content up until the school festival started, and even then, they still had to account for the original character that was thrown in to help with the original ending. The second season was at its best when all it was using was the source material, or at least as much of the source material as possible.

Why can't we have both BiriBiri and Shana this fall? J. C. Staff did Index and Toradora during winter, and they were both 24/25 episodes long.

Hey exactly a Year after it's parent anime aired.
Does either Touma or Index appear in the manga spin-off? They have to have a main male lead, correct? xD

If it goes according to the manga...you will see Touma from time to time..but no Index..as most of the story thus far take place before he met her.

    Comment by DmonHiro
    07:37 26/03/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

Not before, during. In the manga, Touma's already talking to Mikoto about how annoying she is, just like the magicians he's been facing lately.

Can't say I see what all the fuss is about regarding this character. Didn't really like her in A Certain Magical Index, so heaven forbid a spin-off series just for her...
If anything, I'm a bit gutted as this probably means no Shana this year, which I was really looking forward to. :(

I wonder when it'll take place (i.e during or after A Certain Magical Index)

90% of the manga so far takes place before index, and the rest is in the same period as the first few episodes.
