I doubt he did because if he had and they had listened to him back then, why would they now bother listening to the current pope recommending them the opposite?

Popes have always been for abstinence, especially outside of marriage. They don't even bother thinking any further because it is clear to them that if only people were abstinent, there would be no need for condoms. Not really a thought in their logic, it might just be that they have a far too positive image of the savage beast called mankind...

Otakism and Christianity have lots in common. Christianity is only one step more extreme than Otakism because it implies that obsessing over Jesus could replace the physical need for sexual stimulation, while Otakism stops at implying that obsessing over anime and games can replace the physical need for social activities including 3D humans.

Yeah right. Cut the pope some slack here, he's not advising people to have sex without condoms so it's not his fault that HIV and overpopulation ruin the country. You say it's his fault because people listen to him when it comes to condoms, but it's just as much not his fault because people don't listen to him when it comes to sex. It's clearly the people's fault for not realizing that you should either follow his advice completely or not at all. If they think they can make up for not practicing abstinence by not using condoms either, they are clearly too stupid to be helped either way.
