WonHobi 9.5 & Black Rock Shooter

Good Smile Company recently held a follow up mini-event to their large Wonder Hobby 9 (WonHobi 9) figure event, appropriately called WonHobi 9.5. As the first event revealed all the newest announcements there wasn’t much in the way of new releases to ogle, but there are still a good number of new photos of upcoming releases to admire.

Also, one of the most prominent new releases unveiled at WonHobi 9, the quasi-gothic Hatsune Miku Black Rock Shooter was given a release date, something that should be of interest to many…

First off, the lovely Black★Rock Shooter. Quality images are lacking of her, but our original WonHobi 9 post contains much better photos of the figure.

This promotional board mostly speaks of of the character’s origins as a Nico video. Interestingly, there are apparently over 2,000 pieces of art on pixiv already made of the warped Miku clone.

In case you have yet to see the video, I’ve made it available on a forum post.

Finally, the release date – August 2009.

That means the matter of the pre-order stampede shouldn’t come up for a few months…

Another figure from the last event, Sora o Kakeru Shoujo’s main character Akiha Shishidou.

The detailing looks excellent, and not just in front…

A lovely panchira!

On the bottom row and from left to right, here is the Kagami Miku cosplay Figma we recently covered, Maid Tsuruya-san Figma, and Waitress Mikuru Asahina Figma.

The Tsuruya-san and Mikuru Figma are due for May releases, and the Kagami one is already available for pre-orders.

Something I noticed recently is that the reason that the Kagami Miku cosplay and Tsuruya’s maid outfit both look superb in Figma form may be that the outfits do an excellent job of concealing the joints with knee-socks or pantyhose, large wrist cuffs and collars that conceal the neck.

Whatever the reason, both of them could pass for regular figures from a distance and look wonderful.

Also, the Reika Figma (from Gantz) in the back left may look somewhat plain from this shot, but looks much better in the zoomed-in shots I’ve seen online.

The Figma of ドロッセル / Drossel (from the Disney-produced CG series Fireball) looks excellent.

Being a non-human character deals with the problem of joints even more thoroughly than Kagami or Tsuruya-san…

A display of a Nendoroid army at the event, or a candid shot of a true otaku’s room?

This tentacle raep figure from Native always makes for excellent photographs.

The Masamune Shirow Juliona Trans figure from Lilics.

I did mention last time I would need more photos of it to better make up my mind, and I’m still uncertain as to how I feel about her.

The Tony Pantsu Malfunction Maid figure, the second newest figure based on a Tony original illustration after the recent Banana Ero-Figure.

See the rest of the coverage at AkibaHobby and AZURE Toy-Box.

There was also another Figure event held even more recently – the Hobby Complex GK01, which as its name suggests, focused on garage kits.

We most likely will have a short post on that coming up sometime soon.
