Clannad is wonderful, After Story is great....but it the wrong anime if you are looking for fan service. It is a sweet romantic story that you can watch with kids.

Clannad / Macross - no, just increased the increased quality (visual and audio) you'd expect.

I don't know any specifics about the Itazura no Kiss release myself, so I can't answer for that.

See this is what we call a poor competition week. Like others have said either all other series but Clannad are in their 2nd or third week of release, are rereleases or are just plain not as popular as Clannad. In other words it's in a completely different league of sales compared to everything else that came out that week.

Macross Frontier doing so well against it's competition in BR but not so much in DVD shows us that the demographics for the two formats are quite different among other thing.

Clannad sells a lot, but most of the popular anime series are in their 2nd or 3rd week of release.
I believe Strike Witches and Kuroshitsuji sold over 12,000 in their first week.
