Haruhi-chan & Churuya-san Broadcast After All

After their jolly little marketing jape to drum up a storm of conversation amongst the sad remnants of Haruhi’s fanbase, Kadokawa have graciously deigned to broadcast Haruhi-chan on YouTube after all.
You can view the first episode of Haruhi-chan here, and in quality subs here (running for only 5 minutes you may find the fuss to have not been worth the wait).

Fans will doubtless want to savour the seven minutes of actual content, for who knows when Kadokawa will decide to release the next episodes…
The actual content of Haruhi-chan is somewhat disappointing – the manga was excellent, but the first episode does not seem to quite capture this. Churuya-san is on the other hand is mildly charming, but so brief as to not make too great an impression.
Haruhi-ists will just have to put with this until their precious rerun arrives…

As a web-animation that was pretty decent. Hell, I'd be amazed if they bothered to make this Candy Boy level when it clearly wasn't needed.
And at least the subs were better than what Gonzo offered with Strike Witches.
It's pretty clear that Artefact hates Haruhi and anything related to it, so wouldn't it be better to make posts about something else? It's not like there aren't any other shows or news to discuss that aren't posted at all.
He's tsundere for the franchise, trust me.

Well, as for myself, i thoroughly enjoyed it, wasn't expecting much though, so it was great in my book. The churuya wasn't as amusing.

Honestly, it wasn't all that good. The original Churuya 4-koma was decent because it had a sort of weirdness to it, but as a cutesy anime it doesn't really work.

As someone who has long since given up on Haruhi, it was alright. I'd be pissed if it was that kind of quality for a 30 minute episode, but considering I wasn't doing fuck all else, I can think of worse ways to waste 5 minutes.
That 5 minute short was one of the goddamn stupidest things I've ever seen. I seriously want to beat the crap out of whoever made it.
That was pretty nice, Haruhi-chan was amusing, but idk...Churuya-san was kind of bland...probably because it was LOL...
and that makes me sad because I really liked the 4koma Churuya....
Haruhi-chan was kinda meh imo. But Churuya was basically an animated 4koma, which translated fairly well. Poor Churuya kept getting owned.
When will they just release the second season of the original anime?
I'm tired of waiting and this video just made me want it even more. :(
The novels are excellent though and I'm currently waiting for the 10th one which looks like it will ACTUALLY be released soon.

I actually liked both... Osaka voice for Churuya was great, though not what I had expected.

As I've stated in a previous comment, Sankaku has yet to provide any textual evidence of Kadokawa's alleged confirmation of a rerun. None of the Newtype scans previously provided strongly support this claim, and a link to J-Cast's article on the subject in a previous posting was misinterpreted -- in fact, J-Cast stated that they weren't able to obtain a direct confirmation of content from Kadokawa.

The only one misinterpreting anything is you - every single Japanese source interprets this as a re-run. Why? Because they say so:

改めて = anew. Even if it's taken to mean "もう一度", that doesn;t necessarily indicate a repeat.
放送開始 = begin broadcast.
再放送 = rerun. Which doesn't appear in the second statement.
The J-Cast Article states explicitly that it *can't* confirm whether it's a rerun, and that Kadokawa refuses to make a statement at this time. *Not* that Kadokawa is stating, "No, we aren't saying that we're broadcasting a new season."

Yes, you can also find a few reports which ponder the wording (Gigazine for example).
The chance of this typical Kadokawa ambiguous wording being anything but marketing games is probably low enough to be discounted with the information available. If it does show up then that will make an interesting story.

Note the difference.
How does "今までに放送したものを改めて放送する" translate to anything but "broadcasting once again that which has been broadcast before"? Similarly, doesn't "「ハルヒ」の新作が見られるのはまだ先になりそうだ。", which - I hasten to add- remained unchanged in both former and present version, mean "It looks like it's going to be quite some time still before we can see any NEW Haruhi production." (emphasis mine)?
Furthermore, what colour is the sky on your planet?

Note the difference.

Ugh, too 3D for me. Lazy-ass quality, I hope they're using their whole spring budget making the real haruhi season 2. I doubt it.
It's a pity they put up that Nice Boat II video only for a while before releasing the real thing.

And they did a terrible job translating. Who the hell translates it into this crap? Spelling errors, shitty translation, and crap quality. Whats next?

Well I didn't liked the Haruhi-chan clip, Kyon was just boring. Nagato brief appeareance was great and the best part was obviously Haruhi abusing Mikuru.
In the other hand, Churuya-san was great and very funny, although too short of course, but 5 minutes of smoked cheese would have ruined the joke anyway.
Don't get them started again.
It really doesn't matter. I've gotten off the train as a fan and rather just watching this as just another anime. Both of them pretty much sucked except for Haruhi and Mikuru with the counting sheep.
Oh its ok artefact, The fans have already lost much patience/hope/dignity, so a little more gasoline to the fire wont even dent the surge.

I like how you actually make news about something you give jack shit about, just to criticize it for being short and delayed.
I for one liked it, maybe because I haven't waited ONLY for this, but have seen other stuff meanwhile as well, Haruhi is not all in the world after all.
Now stop being negative on my internet and bring us some happy positive nude news.
Even if Artefact personnally doesn't care about this news, he wouldn't be able to ignore it, because to give such news is part of what sankakucomplex is for.
As for negativity, it is not completely undue, given some of the previous news on the subject. Rather than negativity I see it as humor, just like the recurring references to Aya's weight. ^^
Hey, the girl's got a serious obesity problem. Nothing funny about that. You can see how it has caused her to lose focus, be it in her choice of fashion, or elsewhere. We need to support her so that she can lose all those extra pounds and get back to that slender Aya-chan we all love.

almost pure 3d cell shading emulation for 2d. pretty bad quality. i've seen flash animations more lively then this. but then again, the voice cast is the same, so that's gotta be a plus.

I think they did a pretty good job for a adaption of a 4 panel manga. But I think it would of done better if it was a actual 2d anime not semi-cg style.
I'd have to disagree with you there. The quality is inexcusable. Just because it's an adaptation of a 4 koma doesn't mean that the quality should be subpar.
the visual quality was pretty bad but its a adaption of a really short manga. its kind of hard to make a adaption thats really high quality especially when you don't have enough of the original material. Also you have to remember that this was made for Youtube, not for tv, for free. Now if this was made for tv then yes it is inexcusable.
This is bad, but the english sub they made are even worse -_-;
