This is the room of Swiss uber-otaku Melonpan, of dakimakura waifu Nia fame. His dakimakura harem is rivaled only by his enormous collection of figures and manga, enough to put the most ronery of 2ch otaku to shame… Behold, “mai room”:

Indeed. Plus why so many external HDDs, yet only a mere 3 internal? There's room to jam 7 in there (more if you get 5.25" to 3.25" adaptors. I have that case and love it. Though it is surprising that it hasn't been itafied.
Where the hell do they get this kind of money!? I NEED TO KNOW! I only have 4 wall scrolls. That's literally the extent of my collection, and all that my funds allow. ='(

I think you'd be surprised how much you can have and not run any considerable risk...
Considering he has them set up sideways with the exhaust not pointed towards any of the others, then assuming he gets any measurable amount of airflow (which he probably does with the help of his PC's case fans) then it shouldn't be a problem.
Hell, I've got a setup that's worse than that in terms of devices and power consumption, and the only thing it does is make it so I don't need a heater.
How does one amass the necessary funds for all that?

My room looks eerily similar, though this guy does top me in some regards. FYI, subscribing to Megami Magazine lets anyone have a giant poster collection in no time flat.

Im with the others, where the heck do you get that kind of money .... i mean my walls are coverd in posters and iv over 650 anime dvds, but his figure collection price wise would easly out strip the cost of my DVD collection.

He has a projector. I hope it's not just for watching anime, that is an enormous waste of money if it is. He has the 1080p looking monitor, I can't understand the need for a projector.

There is also a PS3 and a 360 among his stuff. Even if he only watches anime and plays games, a projector or a big HDTV is needed for the full enjoyment of HD.

The Monitor is 2560x1600. Like any 30" display.
The projector is 1080p capable as well.
Bugger that & go with 50" plasma as external monitor hookup for movies or 40" LCD for extensive surfing/gameplay (plasma burn in is vicious, says I, while shamelessly surfing on my plasma three days straight and hoping the browser lines will eventually go away as usual...)
Who needs 2560x1600?! No films in that res to date, no games that can render that with a distinct visual boost over 1920/1900 (generally, more like a loss!).
Speaking from own experience?
I own a 30" Dell myself, and the visual boost in games like Prototype is more than apparent. Of course, it kinda requires your eyes to not be... bad.

What a nice PC. Also if people are talking about the mass of wires sticking out of his computer I've seen worse. I mean if you're careful and don't put any liquids near that mass of wires it's perfectly okay. I've never had a problem before or have seen a problem with a mass of wires that is equivalent to or greater than that mass. I'd personally like to know how he set up his moniters. Does he connect them all to his computer? If so, what graphic card is he using to support all those?
On a different note: Where did he get the Love Hina posters? Do want.
I noticed the Dreamcast special edition box of the Love Hina game among some of his stuff, maybe they were a part of it.

I was kinda surprised when I saw he had 5 alter saber and even more saber boxes, but the later pictures shows he put them to good use. BTW his anime and manga collection is small compared to my Japanese friends.
The walls looks like my sister's room, but her room is fill with shoujo guys instead of moe girls so meh.

I saw a lot of stuff I want, especially those Fate stay night posters on his closet. I don't buy Megami magazine since I don't want to fill my room with anime girls since I'm at my parent's place but maybe I should start buying them for future use when I get my own place.
This is probably the best otaku room I saw since everything is clean and orderly. It's like the Rooms of Doom filled with video games but for otaku. Mine would be a mix of the two. I almost wish I had no common sense so that I could waste all these years saving money.
His money don't comes from his parents. He is living with his parents but he works in financial zone (or something like that xD don't know how to call that)
All my stuff are in my cabinet -- manga, figs, posters etc., leaving my room empty.

Actually those Rin and Saber ones aren't posters. They're microfiber towels that were originally sold at a winter comiket a while back I think... you could find the Rin one fairly easily for a time, but I've never been able to get my hands on the Saber one...

The one thing I want to know is where to get that black paperweight-thingie from Haruhi (the one that both the SOS-Dan and this room have on their desks). I'd like to place it at the end of my line of DVDs (and Raiho figure, hee-ho).
