She does look a lot like Kana, but I think its just a look a like.
I've also seen the hairstyle used in many anime series.
But I feel that what confirms that it is not Kana, is the person standing next to her.
For one thing, Tōma is not the same age as Kana, and she attends an elementary school, where Kana attends a middle school.
And their only acquainted with each other through Chiaki, so with Chiaki out of the picture, I can't see why they'd be placed together.
If that was indeed Kana, then they would have had someone who attends the same class, such as Keiko or Fujioka, or perhaps one of her sisters.
If this was intended to be a cameo, then the anime studio would have gone considerably farther, so that it would be a dead giveaway.
Now, they might have designed her after Kana, but I can assure you that it is not her.

It's Kana since she energetically runs in that scene (reviewed the episode saved on PC) and her hair style is the exactly the same except for the color. Kinda obvious! But not a big deal.

just think artefact maybe one day an article about a supposed appearance of some anime character in another anime could save somebodies life. imagine an obsessed otaku going to kidnap some poor teenage girl, he then hears "spike from cowboy beebop makes cameo in the new gundam movie." the guys running to his computer no matter what hes doing at the moment.

What ever. Hair designs usually can be mixed in anime so what? The hair may just look like Kana's but that doesn't mean that it is right?

From a publisher's perspective, I think caring is meant more along the lines of "continuing to read/visit/buy etc." - but anyway... Nobody is saying this is big news.

True, but I read also out of boredom. And I comment for similar reasons. But caring? As if I would care about this or a land that sounds something like cholera or Haruhi or most of the other stuff I get to read on this site.

Most articles are fun and then there is the thing about porn. This one was fun. But caring is still on an other scale.

May look like Kana, but I don't think it's her. imho, it's just one of those cases where you have a character designer who draws in a similar fashion to the one on the Minami-ke staff, comes from the same school of art, or it's the same character designer making subtle changes to mess with our heads. I don't really pay that much attention to the character designers in most of the anime I watch, but usually this is what happens.
