Huge Clannad Continuity Error Shocks Fans

Clannad fans have had the roots of their faith in the much vaunted integrity of the title’s narrative shaken, after observations revealed a continuity error of the most egregious sort between the two seasons.
As you can see here, the Furukawa household’s stairway, on the left and from episode three of the first season, has no banister. Episode 17 does.
Fans have difficulty explaining this away, save by invoking mysterious redecorations.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen such shocking disregard for quality in a top anime, but this hardly excuses such slovenliness.

A few years...DIY happens =D
it has been years, and Ushio is living there, thus it's not surprising for it to be added
As I said, there are those who think it actually a deliberate addition.
WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN
How is this an error?
maybe something happend in the household...
wars or something...
I guess anime characters aren't allowed to do home improvements over the course of 5 years or so.
Its been five years, Ushio now lives there. I wouldn't be surprised if the banister was for her to go up the stairs safely.
Shit happens.
maybe they adopted a dwarf. Oops ushio.
Seriously, wtf
The posts on this site seem to be getting worse, this is nonsense
Not only does no one care (shocking my ass =/) but it's easily explained
DIY
You do realize Artefact was not the one who found these "mistakes", no? And you DO realize he is only letting readers know about something that happened over at 2ch or 2chan(whichever it is).
Why do you even bother to come to this site if it irates you so?
You a masochist or something?
Did I say he was the one who found the mistakes? Not at all, I don't care where it was first posted, there was no need for this at all, a useless post
If he had actually posted this same thing but stating that it's ridiclous to think this a grave error, then that would have been fair enough
Oh yea, because a few posts lately have annoyed me I'm going to completely disregard every other post ever made and never come here again, idiot
"stating that it’s ridiclous to think this a grave error"
Well, that pretty much is what he did.
He let us know of this arguably interesting tibid of random anime-related news that's come up, only thanks to him we can actually understand it, since in place of the crazy moon runes, it's written in plain English. All the while mocking how it really isn't that big of a deal (Sarcasm, internet etc.).
And, really, isn't that the reason we keep coming back to read his posts? (Besides, of course, the galleries of lolis & idols, news of arrested sex-offenders, new releases, the occasional MAD/other fanmade stuff, and to check how much school girls near your area ask for their bodies.)
NERD RAEG!
They have shaken my faith and shall pay for this error!
That's not true, they could have hired someone to do it too!
Ah-ha!
I suppose we can't blame you since Artefact forget the /sarcasm tag at the end of the article.
Well, idiots will be idiots.
wow, if adding banisters for kids is supposed to be shocking, let's have them cook ramen for themselves instead
I presume Sankaku Complex is running a tad bit low on things to post. This isn't even remotely funny, witty or interesting.
Next!
Lurk moar.
you escape from irony like a fish escapes a magnet.
The horror! The horror!
It's anime anything can happen in anime.
It's even more shocking if there are no banisters for Ushio to hold onto.
Human makes mistakes guys....
And the internet points it out and bitches about it XD
A lot worse than that actually. The banister's slanting downward, it's too low(thigh high banister), the stair slant degree changes, and the guy's feet too small >.<
...sorry 'bout that :p
I think Tomoya's leg is fine... It's called prespective dude...
well they have a kid in the house now so having a banister is for safety
Use the handrails. I invented them for a reason.
who cares anyway.. didn't even notice...
probably they put the banister between Ep 3 and Ep 17.Problem solve.BTW,it's no big deal.
lol. I thought the error was gonna be something big that affected the plot. I wouldn't have noticed this on my own. Yeah, like already stated, probably put in for Ushio.
Speaking of discontinuity, someone probably already mentioned this but in Minami-ke, there are some differences between the first and second/third seasons(different production company). Haruka's highschool has regular style classrooms(with desks) in the first but in Okawari/Okaeri they have lecture style classrooms. It's possible the same school has different types of classrooms but I thought it was a pretty noticeable difference.
Oh and Chiaki and Kana had separate rooms in the first whereas they share a large room in second/third. Again they could've just remodeled but I don't see why they'd take down a wall.
Yeah, I also had noticed that.
It's probably the studio change.
I just noticed another difference between the first and second season. In the first season they walk to their apartment from the right, indicating that the stairs or elevator is to the right of their room. In the second season they are the last room on their floor. They also happen to be on the far right, meaning there's no chance for there to be anything else there.
Reference:
First season episode 4 - 2 minutes in.(chiaki finds what's his name, depressed by their door)
Okawari episode 6 about - 14 minutes in.(they try to get fuyuki to come out, you can see that there's only one room next to his, and they head in that direction when going back home)
Umm...lol? The presence or non-presence of a banister neither adds or detracts to/from the story. A completely minute detail.
Lol. Mistakes like these we can see even on big-production hollywood movies. For example, at the Independence Day when the first city was attacked by the aliens and everything was vanished by the alien's beam a single tree was untouched.
Irony is wasted on some people, it seems.
Lol, these otakus can spot all these things and bitch and moan about it as if they were the ones who decides everything. Amuzing article none the less..... =P
My faith in Anime has been crushed... Utterly Crushed!
Why Ushio? Perhaps it's not a child banister, but maybe it's Akio getting old and needing the support to go up the stairs.
I usually feel that they've going over the details a bit too much. I just want to enjoy it, not really to spot how the script is like, any details they've missed out etc. However, the attitude of the viewers have changed these days I guess.
you know, this kind of stuff wouldn't be apparent or even addressed by normal ppl if this wasn't turned into 'news' like this.
I thought it would be something more... important... -__-;
"save by invoking mysterious redecorations.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen such shocking disregard for quality in a top anime, but this hardly excuses such slovenliness."
and calling this something that "Shocks Fans" is a huge overstatement.... The "decorations" a.k.a. renovations aren't mysterious at all and calling this an act of "slovenliness" is really a bit much... someone tried to pack as many insults into one article?
You're completely mistaking the playful sarcasm we often use in our posts here for something else, this time directed at the 2channers who brought this up.
Nobody here actually considers this to be a serious error, I assure you...
¡A wizard did it!
am i the only one who is looking at sanae's boobs in the pic? i mean who cares if a stupid railing is missing or something? id rather her clothes be.. now that's news!
<_< i don't know what everybody loves clannad if it's shitty in all the sense.
I bet that error is the real true face of the quality of the anime, of course, only if the fans would accept it....
very baka-yarou.
lol2ch
Look how low down the banister is. Ushio lives there now, so they added it so Ushio could climb up the stairs. Not an error.
LOL I didn't even notice.
It's only discontinuity if they remove it again without explanation.
