The long awaited Haruhi dance game for the Wii, 涼宮ハルヒの激動 / Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou, is finally with us, and the fan response is positive.
Since this is a dancing game, you will doubtless be wanting to see some videos of the game in action:
As you will recall, the game is an adventure game in which the story is propelled by successful dancing; the actual dancing itself takes the form of correct controller manipulation in response to the on-screen cues, in a manner reminiscent of DDR.
There are also mini-games available…
All manner of songs, settings, characters and of course costumes are available through the course of play. Various additional modes are included, hopefully greatly enhancing replayability.
Sadly, the Wii does not lend itself to graphical splendour, but the graphics do look adequate. Involvement of the original seiyuu and similar ensures an experience close to that of the anime.
The DX pack comes with an exclusive Haruhi articulated figure (Fraulein), so this is likely the undisputed fan choice.
It looks set to sell vigorously.

I'm a bit unimpressed by the game. It's the same five repetative moves, and the part where the anticipated moves occur is down at the very bottom of the screen.
Not only do they make it too easy to focus on the upcoming moves, because you are looking down at the bottom of the screen, you miss the actual coreography on screen, becauce you aren't paying attention.
I think this may work a bit better when they sell Wii-Shoes to go along with.

Yeah, a dancing game for the Haruhi franchise is genius. I won't buy it because I'd probably throw out my back / shoulder if I tried anything akin to dancing, but "sell vigorously" is a spot on prediction.
I hope a u.s. version could be made... or simply, i should study more japenese and buy it over sea.
