So moe I got diabetus.
How can you call Ranka the probable fan favorite when Sheryl is more popular among English, Japanese (Sheryl is clearly more popular than Ranka on 2ch, Newtype and the official Macross BBS), Korean (Final 32 in BestMoe when Ranka couldn't even get out the group stage) and Chinese fans?

Ranka (and quite probably Klan) get substantially more of these sort of images/fan art posted online.
As Artefact (and myself) spend an ungodly amount of time on the Japanese net, he does have some idea of what he's talking about.
Rather than one main female character is more popular than the others, I think it's more probable to say that both characters are preferred by fans in Japanese net. If you are judging by polls though, it is much more likely to go for Sheryl rather than Ranka.
But other than fanarts, Japanese bloggers are most likely to favourite Sheryl than Ranka. Also, don't count short the SS (Short Story, kind of like Fan Fiction in Japan) made too-I'm quite sure it is Sheryl who is leading in that type of fanworks.
I'm more inclined to say that Ranka is fun to draw, even though Sheryl is more favourited in Japan.:) If Artefact says Ranka is Pixiv's fanartists favourite character, I would definitely agree lol ^w^

Ranka the fan favourite? lol. The Seikan Hikou single had the LOWEST sales of all the Macross Frontier CDs released during the run of the series.

Just because she's fan favourite doesn't mean the CD will sell better. I don't buy CDs because such and such characters sings it and I happen to like them, I buy CDs if I like the songs and that's that.
AND she's the moest if we don't count Klan-Klan (who isn't completely moe in my opinion since she's a fine curvy lady in zentraedi form)
