Hmm, it is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions... However, this is not one of the cases where that saying can be applied.

This man was most definately mentally unstable. However it seems odd to me that with his introverted personality that he would try to do this himself. What I mean by that is seeing as how it was stated earlier that he had an interest in BDSM and had also been with a number of prostitutes, didnt just decide to convert to a part-time/ full-time BDSM alternative lifestyle. In which obviously he would be the the dom. But in this case he wouldnt be a suitable dom because of his blatant disregard for his supposed sub's life.

Actually I spent a few hours reading the entire court proceedings and it's super sick.

1) He is not a NEET or Hikki. He makes HUGE bucks even though he's a dispatch worker...like 200,000 yen per month. That's a very respectable income in Japan. Remember, he lives in a well furbished apartment building in the more upper-levels. He also commuted daily to work BY TAXI (he's afraid of trains because he felt they're too crammed)

He's bad at socializing with people because he was traumatized in his childhood for his burn scars on his legs. He said he could never bring up the courage of going out with girls because he was afraid they'd laugh at his scar.

2) Basically, he wanted a girl who would be completely obedient to him. He's not a virgin - he frequents prostitutes (about 10 times) and probably came to think himself as some epic sex master. He wanted to make a girl his sex slave...and hope that she'll eventually obey him in the process.

3) It was a huge tragedy. He did not plan to kill the lady at all. When he was about to rape her though, she struggled so much that he just couldn't get erect so he went back to fapping and left the victim alone. Her sister noticed she went missing and called the cops at 9pm. The cops came to knock on his door at around 11pm, but never went inside his room. He was afraid of getting caught and losing his lavish lifestyle so he wanted her to "disappear completely without a trace" and killed her while the cops are around doing investigations around the building, outside his room.

If only the cops had some sense and searched every room...i.e. the guy's room, tragedy could have been avoided. (Shows how useless Japanese cops are...after all, they carry STICKS instead of guns...)

When he was killing her and cutting her up, he did not think of her as a human being, but just "an obstacle to his everyday life." Really shows how self-centered and sick the guy is.

3) The girl did not die a quick death. When he cut her in the neck, he could not get a clean cut and the girl was left to die for 5 whole minutes...and eventually died of blood loss. Her mouth was muffled, eyes blind folded. To be deprived of your senses, and then left to die in 5 minutes of extreme pain. Sick. Sick Sick.

3) His plan was quite a success. He basically cut the girl up - anything that can be cut up (soft matter), he cut up and flushed down the toilet. Larger bones that he could not, he washed them up and disposed them in some trash disposal a distance away. He carried a little bit out every day in a bag until a few days later no trace of the woman was left. After the cops searched through the underground drainage and water processing they could only find several dozen meat shreds and bone pieces. Nothing else was left.

4) He only got busted because after cross checking with all the tenants of the apartment building, only him and the girl were on the floor at the time of the crime. They then found his fingerprint on the wall of the front porch of the victim's apartment. That's what sealed the arrest.

Just reading the court proceedings made me quite sick (if you understand Japanese and can stand /g/ level stuff, check http://sankei.jp.msn.com/etc/090113/etc0901131231000-n1.htm out). It was very graphic...

The guy should get nothing less than death.

Even that would not bring the girl back or alleviate the family's anguish.

Hrm.. This is great example of what going to happen if somebody step up into otaku lifestyle. Actually a perverse type of anime or manga usually ero doujinshis, hentai or something like that is really sick type of entertainment (Sorry to say guys, no hard feelings ok..). I don't say that it is not healthy, but imagine this, for example, if you take a lot of medicine a.k.a drugs, somehow you will get overdose (like HOUSE the serial, come on.. you all know Dr. House rite?), and it will effect your attitude, brain, emotional, etc. The same thing could happen if you 'overdose' on reading, watching, playing game on ero hentai genre. So, if not overdose still OK. If some guys outthere still into otaku, at least, be part of the real world. I know lots of otakus afraid if this news give negative perspective on them. But what to do, FACE IT! This will give great sick impression impact to crazy nerd otakus. Hope they will step into real world instead of fantasizing things like this crazy guy did.
