There are rumours amongst Shoko-tan fans that she is not long in the world of show business, and that the cosplay idol and blog queen will soon be forced out entirely, having completely fallen from grace.

Exemplifying this is what must have been a crushingly humiliating appearance in a recent episode of variety programme “Anmitsu Hime 2”, where she was snubbed so completely as to not even have been given a microphone, let alone any sort of role:

shokotan-in-peril-2.jpg
shokotan-in-peril-3.jpg

She was conspicuously excluded from the teams on the show, and was basically ignored. Why even invite a talent to a show if they are not to participate? To grind a message home?

You’ll also notice she has not even been given a lapel microphone as everyone else has.

shokotan-in-peril-4.jpg

shokotan-in-peril-5.jpg

Fans have gone so far as to call this harassment, and it is easy to see why. She looks positively dejected.

It is said she may have fallen from favour in a show business clique (and is perhaps not as novel as she once was), resulting in the career destroying treatment you see.

It is not all crushing humiliation for Shoko-tan though. She still has her own TV programme, “Shokorita”, where she gaily engages in cosplay and singing, as you can see below with her Ranka Lee group cosplay, not her first by any means:

shokotan-in-peril-7.jpg
shokotan-in-peril-8.jpg
shokotan-in-peril-9.jpg
shokotan-in-peril-10.jpg

She looks happy enough here, but one TV programme does not a career make, and she might soon find it cancelled and herself disposed of should she further fall from grace.

Via Let’s Geinou News and Jabro.

With such blatant and harsh treatment, some informed commentators speculate that she may not last out the year; whatever the case, she is certainly at a perilous precipice indeed…

Really, aren’t it just fans reading into it too much? It is not like she would be invited to a program to be harassed, and it is isn’t either like she has to accept anything.
Maybe she was just feeling really bad that time, but since she had accepted she had to appear anyways but just couldn’t bare talking?

It is not like one can just fall out of grace either lol. Do you think that there is a single person, group or channel that runs the entertainment business?
As long as she is popular, has fans and makes money she will be in it, simple as that. It is not like she is some newbie who can be destroyed by the ill intentions of some ugly bitch pig director or something.

Otaku or cosplay related stuff being bullied/ ignored on mainstream TV?
    What else is new?

I’d say otaku and fans should protest and boycott the show, but I doubt that would even make a scratch…

Sad for Shoko-tan, but if she knows what’s best for herself (and I’m shure she must had her share of bad stuff like that), she’ll just ignore that sad episode and get over it.

Leaving aside your baseless calumny, if you read the Geinou source you can see that there are a number of articles there dealing with her troubles – this is not just one thing, and they explicitly voice doubts about her future, which I have merely reiterated.

I hope it’s just a case of reading too far into a situation, Shoko-tan is full of win in my book.

She’s gracefully lit the otaku scene with her displays of talent, be it singing, cosplaying or drawing. She really deserves some love.

    NO. Just NO.

Bringing her to the US would ruin her entirely. She would either

    1) become obese

    2) dress up in western clothing, along with putting up ridiculous makeup that makes American Asians look so butt-ugly

    3) Get a tan which would definitely ruin her perfect milky colored skin

    4) Get raeped in an alleyway by hobos who don’t know how famous she is.

    5) Get corrupted the AMERICAN way.

    6) Burned alive by the anti-immigration extremists and/or KKK who hate foreign artistes

    7) All of the above.

Not surprising at all. Talents have a shelf life of 15 minutes… she was cute for a while, but Japan has bored of her, just like every other play-thing they’ve taken to in the past.

Quite so. The only such celebrities who stand a long term chance are the ones with at least some distinct, developed talent (musicians, seiyuu, etc.)… The very antithesis of the talent.
