The latest Vocaloid after the Gackpoid emerges in detail, set for release at the end of January; her name is 巡音ルカ / Megurine Luka.
She (her voice) is said to be “cool and husky”, a reasonable description as you can hear in the below demo song:

As far as the Vocaloid family of virtual idols goes (ignoring their usage as musical tools), she looks only third or perhaps second rate, as opposed to the first rate set of Miku and the Kagmine clan. Still, we shall see.

I believe Vocaloid was meant for a variety of different voices and characters, not JUST Miku. Miku’s great, I love her, but I’m also a loyal Len fan.

Why is Tear there?
Luka is an obvious palette swap of Tear.
Seems like Meiko may become forgotten if Luka catches on.

That makes a lot of sense. She’s go a great vocal range without sounding too artificial. Honestly wasn’t terribly impressed by the majority of the demo, but Amazing Grace was well done.
I still think I’ll stick with Meiko though.

I like the way this one sounds. More mature in a way.
instead of just doing other vocaloid-voices, they should programm a better version already. No matter who, all have those weird very annoying computer-sound-like voices sometimes when they speak. Vocaloid is a good programm, but not perfect, so don’t stop here please.
Actually, I have to agree. It does feel weird at times. Maybe it is a removable filter of sort, or left there intentionally to keep the voices more artificial? (Don’t know what good that’ll do though..)
I have heard some songs on the older Vocaloids that barely has the synthesizer feel, for some odd reason. I think it can be removed to a certain degree by fading out the the end of the word or something.
Sounds like a good voice for more Jazzy, or Latin American songs.
It is possible to tweak the vocaloids to human perfection but it takes a lot of time, generally people also seem to want to maintain the artificial sound the vocaloids produce.

The voice range reminds me of Ren. But for some reason, she sounds more natural. Idk, maybe it’s just me… but they seem to be refining the vocaloid software.
Character design is good… no change there. Though I still prefer Miku =P.
Luka’s outfit made me think of Tear too, at first. As I started flipping through the fanart, I kept thinking of Utena instead–same hair and eye color, and Luka’s dress looks like a Rose Bride dress. I think she’s cute, but it’s more evident in the fanart. That wasn’t a really great looking piece by KEI. Luka’s proportions are really weird in that picture, especially her hands.
The English isn’t too bad.

but it not ready picked yet , their fans still choosing another mascot like Whip, Pink babe, Rose ,Dophin and more.. but i can see more Luka&Maguro much more than other mascot…

Her voice is a bit odd to me but aesthetically she’s quite attractive…
It sounded something like a bar singer’s voice (where you see in those ganster movies accompanied by a piano).
It’s called blues/jazz, holy shit.
I like Megurine’s voice. It lacks many of the qualities that I find annoying in most Japanese singing voices.
She is most fappable, but I don’t think her voice can top any of the following which feautures Hatsune Miku:
1. Incarnation
2. Far Away
3. Stratosphere
4. Plugout
Etc..
Yes they are all trance songs, which I think fits Miku’s voice perfectly.

I actually like the robotic sound of the earlier versions. It sets them apart from any old singer. The more realistic they sound the less they appeal to me.
Plus…she sounds like a more feminine Len.
Though I don’t dislike her. She has a nice voice but Rin and Miku shall be my favorite female Vocaloids. Luka will most likely be my preferred backup singer though. Only time will tell.
