Meh, it was almost a given that ToHeart would be relatively high.

if you look around the interbutts, there are some groups who translates and patches them for the english speaking audience…

… and finish about 1 game per year. They can’t be blamed, it’s a shitload of work and they’re doing it in their free time. IMO you’re better off learning Japanese. You won’t be able to read much without a Kanji dictionary at first, but what better way to learn than by playing eroge and reading manga? Being able to watch anime raw is a nice side effect too.

Look again. Shin Koihime Musou is up there. And it was released on the 26th December if I remember correctly. The original Koihime Musou was released in Jan 2007, so no way that would be on the list.

I’m kind of surprised To Heart 2: Another Days did so much better than Little Busters! Ex, and I know a lot of hardcore fans are going to rage over G-Senjou no Mahou ranking lower than games by bigger companies, even if they were just fandiscs. This was a really good year for fandiscs.

It is, and the names for these rankings ranged from “galge” to “eroge” to “PC games”; we used eroge just as a compromise term as it seems to be one of the more widely used names…

Put another way, if we titled the article “2008 Eroge, Visual Novel, Bishoujo Renai Simulation Game & Galge Sales Rankings” it would be a bit much.

If it helps, I originally named this “2008 Galge Sales Rankings”, you can think of this post under that name if you prefer.

Less numbers, more headline images! Though I guess I can head to the channel for that.

“G線上の魔王 / G Senjou no Mahou” should be “G Senjou no Maou” or “Maoh,” depending on what romanization you prefer.

I’m surprised to hear that ToHeart 2 AD did so well, considering that the 初回限定版 first release edition has been in the bargain bins for \1980 in Akiba since summer time.

I’m kind of sad that Sumaga isn’t on the list. But oh well, Nitro+ games hardly ever top the charts.

Pretty spot-on. Though there are a few games that I thought would be contenders. Clannad full voice not up there is surprising, considering the fan base of the franchise. 暁の護衛 was pretty good. 戦女神ZERO has good game play. さかあがりハリケーン and MagusTale Infinity are personal favorites, so is 11eyes -罪と罰と贖いの少女-.
