If you look closely, the woman is scratching the cat's lower spine every time it bites. It's similar to that famous youtube video of the "Talking Cat" that just goes all weird when meowing. It seems to be an involuntary reaction:

Interestingly enough, I have had two guinea pigs and both of them would do the same thing (compulsively bite anything near their head) when you scratch along their lower spine.
