Idol Master Baseball Anime Due

The latest Idol Master property looks to be a baseball anime set during the Taisho period, in which team 765 valiantly rise to the challenge laid down by a rival team…
The above image may be a Photoshop poking fun at the uncanny resemblance, but the resemblance itself is real enough, as you can see on their official site.
The anime in question is 大正野球娘 / Taisho Yakyuu Musume (Taisho Baseball Girls), an anime adaptation of a novel surprisingly featuring the antics of a group of baseball playing schoolgirls in the Taisho period (1912-1926 – in practice this means longer skirts and more kimono). The title is set to air in 2009.
Be assured that this has nothing to do with Idol Master, as far as anyone can tell.
The reason for the rather pronounced resemblance to Idol Master must surely be coincidence, must it not?

as long as there's still some originality :P.. but baseball and girls.. never thought they'd mix.. o.O
Because there aren't millions of girls playing baseball all around the world every day or anything.
That would be softball my good sir.
But yeah this sounds like a terrible idea.
And of course, in classic anime style everything will be blown way out of proportion (and for this reason I have yet to be able to enjoy a sports episode of any show): speed of the pitch, bat swings, catching, home runs, etc. Ah I can see it now.....
Because you've actually seen Ookiku Furikabutte, right?
And despite how the main character in Major spends all of his time attempting to improve his pitching speed and generally pulling through when it looks like he's down, it's actually a pretty great baseball anime.
The only other experiences I've had with sports-based things are the Eyeshield 21, Hajime no Ippo and Hikaru no Go mangas and I thought they were all well worth the time, having enjoyed them loads.
How about other girl-centric sports anime? Not a whole lot, there's Kinban Kaleidescope. There's more manga though.

Kinda surprised when I saw the title and the 1st Pic. There was this girl resembling Iori, Haruka & Ritsuko.
I LOLed at the girl holding the bat, the one like Iori. She's gives me the feeling of Miyako from Bamboo Blade....Double personality.

I'm not much of sports anime fan, so even if they do bear a close resemblance to the much beloved idolmaster girls, I probably wouldn't watch it.
Where's Makoto? If she's not in it, this won't be worth watching for me.

I'm a bit disappointed though. Comparing it to the characters from the manga, it's hard to identify all of them.
But knowing its from the people who did Idolm@ster, I guess it isn't a surprise.
As big a fan as I am of idolm@ster I'm gonna pass on this cause it's sports related. Boring sports are boring~

You know what we need? We need an anime that mixes the Idolm@ster girls and World of Warcraft, with each one assuming the role of a specific class.
