Let's just say it as "fanfics given a graphic form."

For some reason I think doujins do their "shipping" work way better than what I could think of.

It makes sense, because all of us like different characters and sometime want to pair them up with characters that we know will never happen within the actual series. So Doujin is a really smart and successful way to express that

It's because you usually get your 'romance' or 'whatever you want to see' fix within the canon, so making doujinshi is pretty pointless. Like drawing an ecchi doujin of Bible Black; you already got enough in the original work.

Fans want to see what they don't show in the canon, only what they heavily imply (or even don't imply at all).

i dare to throw my old theory back in: many series don't offer much playground for sexual couplings, or the fans deem the series to be "too holy to be violated".
romantic, girls manga-like or marginally erotic doujinshi seem not to be popular either, and yuri manga usually falls in that category. which, at least to me, explains the lack of marimite or touhou doujinshi.
if anything, you'd find classic adult manga with randomly added monsters, unrecognisable half-drawn gar characters, or just plain futanari.
but who would read a futa manga with yumi and/or sachiko in it? i sure wouldn't.

As noted, these figures do not include C75 doujinshi, and C74 occured when Strike Witches was only a month into its TV broadcast - certainly a small amount of time for doujinshi artists to produce works based on the series.

Because Miku is just. That. Awesome.

It's easy to characterize Miku with the software because it is, afterall, a vocaloid, with its unique voice and stuff like that... but operating systems... that's a different story =S... though it might help sales a little bit for microsoft... and having some OS-tan default backgrounds would be nice.

Just thought you might want to fix one of the titles:

狼と香辛料 / Spice and Wold

Nothing major, but still kinda bugs me since I love the series and it's a pretty blatant typo.

Hetalia had more doujins than Bleach (okay, not by much, but still). Wow. I knew it was popular, but I didn't think there would be so many doujinshi for it. And knowing how many people planned to draw Hetalia doujins for FuyuComi...
