Neither have I (and by no means furry >_<), but just randomly adding kemonomimi to an already cute girl appears kinda pointless to me. It just _has_ to blend in somewhat naturally in order capture some of the 2D appeal.

The kneesock one is just in a realm of adorable all to it's own.
Certainly something 2D can't touch, but I can't imagine a tail working well on 3D, so 2D still wins there, :3

I'm confused by this statement.
I think when executed well it can work just fine in 3D, as long as the colors of nekomimi and hair match.
The second image fails at that, so the knee socks power-up was somewhat in vain.
Well, there's a difference between actual catgirl fantasy and a cute girl wearing some cat ears. The second pic looks way cuter to me, but I really have no furry/animism interests.
