IMO, when you do these kind of cosplay, you really got to be dead on in terms of body proportion and structure. If you're off on either, it just plain creepy cosplay. I'm also guessing the angle and lighting at which the pictures are taking also affect the outcome greatly too.

The best dress ups in the pictures above would probably be Maria, the Marimite characters, miko and Tear Grants.

The ones trying to look like Etna should atleast have red wigs.

Indeed, some of them really looks good. But, the most of them are just creepy, but, actually, is funny how creepy they are. Some of them even looks like Yukkuris.

Yeah, I agree with most of the posts here... what makes it so creepy is the sheer lack of realism. Some mobile facial expressions would definitely benefit the cosplayer. I don't really find it 'creepy' but its certainly 'unbelievable'. Like I couldn't be attracted to it. Some of them are hot yet, but like I said, lack of realism kinda pushes it out of the window. Which is odd... I look at my fair share of hentai =D

And yeah, this is kinda like the hardcore 'furries' (although I hate the term, really, if a species from another planet came down and happened to resemble 'furries' they'd probably look at you sideways and call you stupid if you called them that, can't we just call them what they are? Anthropomorphs.) I'm like any other average guy who happens to like anime or so called 'furries' but these definitely kill the fantasy for me. It just seems so... childish in the end.

I love these, and I may be a minority here, but being a minority is one of the things about being an anime fan. if we cared about what others thought, Anime wouldn't thrive like it has.

BTW, this is fairly common in those stage shows where they fight/dance/perform in front of a small group of audience. Its quite popular too you know.

I think they're friggin adorable.

Most of these are really unsettling, though there are a couple that work. What weirds me out more is the whole body stocking thing. I just find it odd that they feel the need to cover every bit of skin, but I guess in some sense I can see it being rationalized. Hrm...

Regardless, those masks have always horrified me to no end. As someone mentioned, the no blinking thing is creepy, plus the same goddamn facial expression isn't exactly helping matters, it just screams, "This is the last thing you will see before I begin the dismemberment."

The ones not frozen in a gaping smile aren't so bad at least. Perhaps a Yuki Nagato mask would be alright, since it would be a stoic expression.

Some of the time, it's kinda cute. Most of the time, it's pretty creepy. All of the time, I question my sexuality.

Traps would definitely be a huge issue. I think this distorts my reality way too much... Drugs wouldn't even fuck me up this bad. Its definitely not bad, but I prefer it to either be 2D or 3D, not both.

The fun thing is, of course, that you can never know who is beneath the mask and costume. Maybe it's a girl... maybe it's a guy with fake boobs.
