I'd wager it is meant to be one, but when I saw the episode the thought that it was a cameo took a long while to materialize, it wasn't an obvious one at all.

That IS an idolm@ster cameo considering same VAs. Also, cameos don't always have to have the same palette colors (just look at other anime like SZS, Lucky Star or Hayate). It is undeniably them, however, some may be led astray since the designs more closely resemble the game artwork as opposed to Xenoglossia artwork.

I said yes, but it seems really subtle; like their hairstyles could be closer to the idols and have the right colours. Not really a cameo.

Oh, the fact that Index And Xenoglossia Haruka's seiyuu is the same, there might be a possibility that they made this cameo. Since the theme of the series was comedy, cameo appearances materialization is possible. :D

I think people are just seeing things. Nowadays, just how do you design Extras without looking like someone else? I know if I were to make a cameo scene, I'd make it as obvious as possible, not "OMG it looks like Haruhi".

IMO that's a little too far fetched. Only thing I see is that those ribbons look a bit like Harukas', and that isn't enough to convince me :P
