I think this image is ~OK (was desighed thes way). On this Pic wee can see an imotional transition(3 pic sequence) from frustration/surprise(1st pic, round simplified face) to less frustrated one(middle pic, less simplified) and then to the usual Tsuruga-san self(3-rd Pic).

So it's definitely not a QC failure, but it was consciously drawn this way.

On the other side i cant disagree, that for the 1st touch faces seems exceedingly V-formed, but it's just a feature and i'm used to it(it doesn't raise some negative turn-it-off feeling).

PS: and i honestly think Skip Beat is one of the best ever manga/anime(i'm a male though).

It's a perspective failure. Try sketching the stairs without the steps (i.e as just block-polygons) and you'll see why it looks like an MC Escher painting.
