Saying “Good Morning” to Schoolgirls a Crime

Saying "Good Morning" to Schoolgirls a Crime

From the advisory reports of Tochigi prefectural police:

“Around 16:30 an incident occurred in the city where a man walking on the street spoke to a girl primary schooler, saying “Good morning”, etc.

The man was in his thirties or forties, about 170cm, thin with short hair, and wore a black turtleneck, grey vest, cream trousers and carried a black bag.

When somebody you don’t know tries to speak to you, you should run away without talking to them, sound your crime prevention buzzer, and immediately report the incident to police, even if you are at home.”

The original report.

Is it any wonder people are reluctant to help schoolgirls when any attempt to interact with them, let alone help them, by a wicked male at least, is regarded as criminal conduct?

Everyone says that it was dumb to arrest someone for saying "good morning". But remember what parents ALWAYS tell their kids. Don't talk to strangers. If a stranger randomly says to some kid "good morning" then that person is probably up to no good. Why else would they be talking to a kid? It would make sense if that kid was their relative, like their own son, daughter, granddaughter, niece, etc. But talking to a kind you don't know probably means you are trying to lure them, to do something nasty. Sheesh! Is it THAT hard for the idiots here at sankakucomplex.com to understand why it's suspicious for someone to talk to a random child that they don't know? Little kids are NOT supposed to talk to strangers. PERIOD!

Um, WHAT? So, suddenly it's suspicious to greet a kid? Adults used to say "Good Morning", "Hello", and stuff like that to me as a kid. Think about it.

    "Hello."

    "OMG A PEDO!!!!!!"

Seriously. Unless he said something inappropriate, it makes zero sense to arrest him.

Thats a pretty big assumption to make. If someone says "good morning" why assume he AUTOMATICALLY is up to no good? What you have to watch out for is people who try to lure you into a van or into a dark alleyway somewhere. Seriously there's no need to be RUDE to people who maybe just are in a great mood and wish to share the positive energy.

Not to mention, a pretty good % of molesters/rapists are people known to the victim, not the random stranger with a van.

God, so much for songs we had in the Mary Poppins like "good morning, good morning to you!" etc.

There's this "Gentleman" character in Tales of Legendia who say it even

Freedom of speech or even the willingness to protect someone is not shrinking in this situation. The circumstances define the outcome. This situation would probably had led to rape. Don't twist the notion around:
What business can an unknown man have, beside the obvious, to greet a girl who's a stranger to him ? Would any parent be cool with the fact that a stranger is talking to their kid? Why I think they'd approach their kid, and even if the men had not planned anything they'll still see him suspiciously. Oh and the title should have been:
Saying "Good Morning" to school girl's a crime (for men)

But you don't KNOW he would have raped her. You're trying to prove intent without there being a crime attempted. you are treading on a very dangerous slippery slope.

Ohayo (good morning) can pretty much be said at all times of the day, it's just like hello, and casual.

When i walk around or go to the shop or just am on the street if i go into a building or open a door etc etc etc if i make eye-contact with people (and i usually do) i always say "Hello" or "stay well" <- (its something we say in our country).

I dont go around thinking about raping people im just generally a well-wishing and happy person and i want to share the joy.

Also i smile when i make eye-contact with people.

ok so simply put there was a greeting in this case a "good morning" which can be used as a general greeting... but the person is assumed as a criminal for it... could he not simply want something like lets say know the direction to a... w/e that might be to ask something harmless... time for example... hell there are so many things u can ask a random stranger... be it a kid and if it was 4 30 pm... all the kids were going home... so most likely there would be no one but kids...

It is kinda suspicious for a man to say good morning at 4:30 PM to a total stranger, but if he didn't do anything else, I see no reason for it to be a crime.

    But it is Japan...

When I went on holiday to Switzerland I stayed in some random village at the foot of some random mountain. I liked spending the morning sitting on a bench watching local life go by. Every single child that went past me on their way to school smiled and said "bonjour!" to me.

One country's sex crime is another country's basic level of politeness.

In Japanese, people often greet each other with o-hai-you. It means something to the effect of "it's early" but you can say it to anyone who you've seen for the first time that day, no matter what time it is.

IIRC the Japanese have very specific time-limitations on what greetings & salutations they use
I don't know the specifics, but something like using ohayou past 10am or 11am is quite the gaffe

Quite. I was going to say that myself. It does sound a little fishy, but then, maybe he had just woken from a deep sleep after playing his fav game all night or watching a "Sailor Moonathon" (in keeping with men preying on schoolgirls) and he really wasn't sure what time it was as he didn't have a watch or something to that effect.

i would hardly call him on this alone, though. Etc might be that he was asking her the time of the day as he realised that the sun was higher in the sky than he first imagined, and then he remarked on what a nice looking time piece she was wearing herself.

ok, now i'm just talking shit cause i'm tired. whatever.
