According to the results of a recent survey, 2ch is the least healthy social site on the (Japanese) Internet. The most healthy turned out to be none other than Mixi, a site very much in the vein of MySpace or Facebook; mobile SNSモバゲー / Mobage also placed highly.
53% of respondents said Mixi was healthy, whilst 33% said the same of Mobage. A mere 15% thought 2channel to be in any way “healthy”.
However, in a separate question 58% said they had not used any of them, with 28% having Mixi experience, 25% having 2ch trauma, and a tiny 6% had experience of Mobage.
The survey was conducted online, covering a modest sample of 400 men and women, in their twenties, thirties and forties.

2channers are predictably scathing about the results, noting that it may literally have been an effort to boost the stock of certain companies, and that the results of such surveys are easily manipulatable.
Some say with all the dodgy dealings on Mixi and the like, the anonymity of 2ch is by far the safer option.

This is ridiculous, the anonymity and lack of continuity makes people try not to become dramawhoring reputationfags.
It's more the vendettas built up on other social sites which create more emotional conflicts.

2ch sucks. So do mixi and mobage. Still, I dislike these channels, they bring out the worst of human beings, besides glorificating decadent culture. I'm well aware that the anonymous channels in their entirety aren't like that, but the repulsive part is enough for me. I also don't understand the "underground otakus" who post here. They somehow rationalize that 2ch is good, while 4chan is bad. Both are bad.
Just my opinion, anyway. Traditional non-anon, cordial rule-set forums are better (specially without post counts).

2ch anons are right, this indeed can easily be manipulated...
Modest sample is an overstatement. That shouldn't even be called a study with such a small amount. And especially if the sample was in one area. The results are easily polarized depending on the people's biases/beliefs/experiences/etc.

Hmm... 2ch is meant for free "but regulated-ish" speech and expression... Clean or unclean, no one forces anyone to go to any site. Just another day in 2ch history...
