Kemeko Deluxe Parody & Service: Zetsubou + Clannad

Minigun wedding anime Kemeko Deluxe seems to have strengthened into a very worthy title in its second episode, and keeps up the comedic service, whilst introducing some parody elements – Clannad and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are both given appearances.

Personally, I can’t help but think the parodies here make no sense – they seem more like random interjections, even in a chaotic anime like Kemeko.

Next, a look at the rest of the episode, which manages to be high tempo without actually revealing any story (imouto is introduced instead). It’s enjoyable irrespective of this.

Another point worth mentioning is that the Keroro Gunsou parallels now go well beyond art and story – it seems male protagonist’s mother is a put upon mangaka too…

Does the Ghost In The Shell reference make no sense to you either? :/

That’s a regular fixture rather than a one-off parody I believe, if indeed it is a parody. Tacking in two stills from Zetsubou is weak as far as I’m concerned.

I gota say, shamefully poor parodies aside, they need to be careful about letting the jokes go on too long. I couldn’t finish the first episode of 今日の五の二 becouse the jokes just sat around, losing funny every second. Otherwise, this series is good

Episode two turned me off this show. I enjoyed episode one, but maybe that was enough of this kind of crazy humor. They tried to beef up references to other anime, but that just felt forced to me.

For me, Kyou no Go no Ni’s excessively long sequences ended up going on long enough to start working again.

Iliked the ep, Imouto’s youthfully chubby legs certainly did attract me attention

Looking forward to next week’s ep.
