T-M design was good, at least I’m pretty familiar with the Takeuchi style.
But the last picture is just… lol.

The bug-eyed anime look was never my style. So here I’m impartial.

I am shocked and appalled, good sir! The previous look was far better and cuter – this just looks odd. Fate looks pretty decent in that image, though, so there is still hope it was just a goof of some description.

Like this is going to keep me from enjoying the movie. It’s only one picture, and it’s not that bad.

The oversized eyes may be a bit of an overboard but that won’t stop me from watching the movie.

Whilst it’s not exactly an improvement, I’m more worried about them changing Bardiche’s VA.

They need more opinions before they decide on designs like that…No matter how you look at it, the eyes are oversized.

Is this a problem? There are lots of good shows with painfully large eyes… take Maria-sama ga Miteiru. I’m more worried about Nanoha’s shoulders in that picture!

I like the new design though. It looks “cleaner”.
I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see the actual movie to see if it’s any better or worse.

Oh noes!~ The eyes are too big! This movie’s gonna suck because of an insignificant design change that most people will only notice if it’s pointed out to them!

omg they are in drugs! look to the pupils. and comartemis the difference is pretty big enough to notice. there is not need to point it out( and iwatched nanoha S1 and S2 like a year ago dropped S3 because it sucks)

Then you must be much more taken with the art style than I am Zero, because I would not have noticed the difference if the article hadn’t pointed it out to me. Even then, I had to look really closely to be able to tell the difference.

Anyways, this wouldn’t be the first time 7Arcs screwed up on quality control, so let’s not hit the panic button until we see actual footage that looks like this instead of one measly little poster.

Looks great. It’s pretty clear Nanoha’s eyes are a fault of the artist, and the animation will not look like that. Just look at Fate’s eyes for example, they’re perfect. And so is everything else about her…but I digress.

What seems to have happened here is that they decreesed the age nanoha looks. Her eyes in general isn’t that much bigger, it’s the size of her head which is mostly used to indicate that the charackter is younger. Her thin and short arms also indicate this.

    Lolicon anyone?

Yasuhiro Okuda has been the character designer for the entire Nanoha series. He also does the majority of the pinup posters for anime magazines namely Megami. Just look for 原画/奥田泰弘 in the corner of the posters to see the ones he illustrated. Compare the first season of Nanoha with his more recent illustrations for Strikers and weep. It’s definitely gone downhill.

    No it hasn’t.

And you won’t know anything until you see animated sequences of the actual movie. A trailer at the least.

It’s a single drawing ppl. It doesn’t say anything about the damn movie. Give us incriminating footage, and then you can bring the house down!

Nanoha’s eyes were always that big.
Just because it’s new ppl have to pick out everything that looks even slightly different.
In my opinions, not bad, they could’ve kept Nanoha’s bow, though.

It could just be the shot, ’cause Fate looks normal. Unless Nanoha spends the entire movie with wide-opened determined eyes or somethin, it should be okay.
