Its like if you were a heterosexual person and were really turned off by gay ppl and someone tried to call you a fag, you would probably get angry and defend yourself and deny it, that wouldnt somehow mean that you are gay just because your denying that you are. So the logic in saying that he is believed to be an otaku because he so readily denies that he is doesnt make sense. He may just think of it as an insult, like he said.
