I remember reading something like this before some years ago. Where some groups were complaining about the amount of "adult" material was appearing in "shoujo" manga/magazines. I never would have imagined that the material was that "risque". Not to mention drawn by women. Damn talk about "balls". See and all this time ya thought guys were the dirty birdie. I'd be curious to read more on this topic if I can locate various references.

Don't you know Japan,women have needs too and it is okay to accept that. Sexual inhibition is what is causing your stunted birth to suicide rates. If you were to accept some of your less than flattering qualities and see it as something unique like how there is a "black" culture in USA. And a bit less-flattering "Jersey" culture in New Jersey. Forgive me if my logic is inaccurate, but I believe I have a fairly simple progression system that might explain some of the questions:

Shoujo = girls manga.

In order to remain in publication, any given manga series must meet X (where "X" is the minimum revenue for the publisher to continue with the series) amount of sales.

Therefore, if shoujo manga is designed specifically for girls, and all manga must satisfy a certain sales bracket, we can assume that Shoujo manga, rather than attempting to "guide" or "control" the choices made by young females, is, in quite the opposite fashion, directly subject to the (ever-changing) whims of said demographic.

If shoujo manga is a subject of the preference of its demographic, then the contents of shoujo manga that are successfully published are, most probably, effective in catering to the choices and desires of young female readers.

If shoujo manga are indeed obeying the whims of these readers, then it would, in fact, indicate that such arguments as "why is it only maledom" and "they're teaching teenage girls to be sluts" are, in fact the only true attempts in this situation to "control" what this demographic thinks and desires. If you think that this type of material isn't what should turn girls on, then work to convince your children that they should be aroused by something else.

So that's why they like maledom so much overthere.

Typical double standard.

They chastise and feminize men, while "liberating" women and telling them to act smutty.

And Japan's population continues to plummet and they wonder why.

How came shoujo smut is always maledom? I've yet to see one with female taking the lead in sex! At least in yuri stories there're no hard-cast uke-seme rules.

Well... girl's sex drive is confirmed higher than guys, accept that they deny it and avoid talking about it. So on the surface, it appears that man are much more of a pervert. Well this is just me, but perhaps it is also depending heavily on cultural factors ^^

actually, i discovered that genre just recently. except for the fact that i hate bishounen, those manga are way yummier than most of the crap you find in the seinen sector.
