This is no ordinary gallery, so allow me to explain: this is actually a collection of illustrations drawn collaboratively on 2ch, in a sort of game or interactive art. They are most moesome.
The basic flow is that the kind artist will start a thread, and request a situation or design, and then specify which reply’s suggestion will be used (e.g. >>5, the fifth post in the thread gets to specify), triggering a flurry of posts to try to get the specified response.
After this, the artist will come back and post the illustration asked for, and then specify the next reply, and this continues until the thread maxes out at 1000. This can take a few days.
Since seeing how what’s asked for translates into an illustration is rather interesting, I’ll also provide the relevant replies. There are three threads, so I’m going to present one here, and the rest in a pool on Sankaku Channel. There are plenty more there.

When told that what was meant was more a fusion of the two, he came out with this:

This sort of game is not itself so very uncommon, but what I would say is rather uncommon is artist of evident skill going about this. The illustrations really are very nice, I think you’ll agree. The artist is an anonymous Vipper, so I’m afraid no further information is forthcoming.

but stuff like this can't exist on 4chan for two reasons
first, all semigood and amateur artist are generally hated and called drawfags for fun
and better artist usually don't have the time or don't give a damn about them
It's amazing that some freelance artists can just take a simple concept (taken from the requester) and create an piece of art like that...
I just wish we had them on 4chan... then again, the environment's too difficult for such people to exist in?

By the looks of things it's played in the middle of the night on various random 2ch boards... getting one of the designated posts looks to be an excercies in frustration.
