    I know it’s a lot to ask, but I think it would be a great improvement to those gallery posts if you would provide some authorship information alongside the pictures (original game for game CGs, circle name for paro doujin art, that sort of things; and if you don’t know, it’s ok to ask if someone can post the sauce in the comments). For one thing, it’s polite to give credit where credit is due. But more importantly perhaps, it would be an exciting opportunity for your readers (myself included) to discover new names in the industry and the fandom–”Hey! this is good, let’s see more of the guy’s works”, “This game has gorgeous art, I want to try it out”, whatever.

    What you say is absolutely spot on, just rather difficult in practice.

    You’ll notice that when dealing with known artists/mangaka, etc, I make an effort to introduce them properly for the sake of both readers and artist, but in these cases I have usually gathered the images up myself and done some research - see today’s PaperChild article and you’ll see what I mean.

    Compare this to the galleries: I can name Tony and ToHeart from the above images, and no more.

    The problem with the galleries is that they are thoroughly random and have generally been gathered up by people (Vippers more often than not) who don’t have a clue about the sources either. Thus they lean more towards an as is style of presentation.

    So sourcing them is nigh on impossible (certainly for fifty differently sourced images, and thousands in total), but I am hoping that the addition of Sankaku Channel as a capable image database should have a positive effect, since it is much easier to get that sort of information in place with such a system.

    My explanation is a bit of a cop out, but there’s a limited amount one can do with this sort of presentation (a static gallery).

    Even just managing dupes was starting to get very difficult with thousands of images on the site, so I am hoping for a new collaborative approach using Sankaku Channel… Hopefully like this we can all benefit from being able to share all kinds of information.
