  Since Uniqlo is FAR more common in it’s homeland than it is in the US, it can be seen as the common thing everyone wears since its easy to access and relatively affordable, and because its so common and unoriginal it won’t catch a Japanese woman’s eyes. I happen to like some of their basics. And the collaboration lines are pretty good too. Once Uniqlo goes global I bet some of the foreign enthusiasm for it will die down since it won’t be special anymore
