Those who relish a happy ending will be gladdened to know that the unfortunate young lady whose illness resulted in a grotesquely swollen belly due to an out of control tumourous growth has received charitable contributions of such generosity that she can now afford to undertake treatment.
Her tale has prompted a deluge of sympathy from Chinese net users; we hear a variety of good Samaritans, from business leaders to humble workers in the same shoes as herself, have donated generously in support of her treatment, with the result that the estimated 100,000 Yuan (about $15,000) required for the operation and subsequent treatment has been obtained.
Doctors say it will be a complex operation, and we do not hear what their opinions are on the likelihood of successful treatment of so acute and well progressed an illness, though the general tone seems optimistic.
