Shame their budget or venue wouldn’t stretch to 1:1 on this model. This is part of promotional efforts for the upcoming (August 2nd) theatrical release of スカイ・クロラ The Sky Crawlers, an adaptation of a popular SF novel series, being directed by Ghost in the Shell luminary 押井守 / Mamoru Oshii, and animated by Production IG. The release coincides with the release of the Ghost in the Shell remaster/renewal.
Not too sure about the film – whilst it will probably be great, and looks to have impeccable production values, a series might be a better choice for additional depth and development, especially considering there are five novels to work with. Will this be able to compete with the magnificent Last Exile for the crown of best aerial armada war anime?

Hmmmm I don't know, Last Exile was pretty sweet. But then ever since strike witches I've been craving more aerial combat anime.
This looks very promising!
This movie sucks ! the story is so dense, i lost a few iqs after watching, my main reason to buy it was the aereal scenes, they were good, but very few and very short, i wanted to kill the main character, as well as the rest of the cast, the only one i liked did nothing ( the pilot girl on the first pic)
