There’s been so much criticism of the art and what not in this title. It makes me wonder, am I the only person that thinks the backgrounds are beautiful and that I think the panoramic visuals especially of Tokyo make the series more memorable visually than any other series to date?

HDR photo + glow filter ftw.

I think having real life background with animated character is pretty unique. But I was disappointed at the fact that the creators claim it is not real photos.

Exactly, although I don’t think it is quite that severe (though I can’t say for certain how close the images are to their photos; close is my guess).

In a nutshell, it feels like they basically took a hi-res camera, and took pictures of scenery, then stuck it into the background and put the characters/props on top of it. :D
