It seems to be an Asian thing. There is always a certain overly contrived way tv personalities and idols act on tv, and a way dolled up girls like the ones in this gallery pose for cameras. They're always scrunching and angling their faces to try to achieve the ideal "cute" look, and it's glaringly obvious.

It always gave me the impression that they're hiding behind the ideal image of what a desirable girl should be like and hamming it up rather than relying on actual charisma or being themselves. It's one of the aspects of Korean/Japanese/Chinese pop culture that alienates me from it despite being surrounded by a lot of people who are into it. Just my thoughts.

true that. men don't realize that even if the girl is cute and happens to not be wearing make-up, they still work hard to get clear skin, a nice figure, and shiny hair. even so called natural beauty takes a lot of work. and also it's pretty funny seeing comments about girls talking about their natural beauty when it's obvious to any girl that they are wearing eyeliner, concealer, and mascara. hahaha

I'm not hating, I too can appreciate the beauty of a woman. But all this porn and barbie doll stuff really distorts the perception of what a real girl actually looks like.
