otaku =/= anime only

of course, that is a thing that weeaboo tend to mix up.

and MOST of japan doesnt even like otaku (especially the women), which is another thing weeaboo dont comprehend.

apparently they would rather be known as the "land of the samurai" than land of the otaku since samurai dont have the negative press coverage as otaku.

using your philosophy, it would be like america being known (to the rest of the world) as the land of school shootings or obese people.

remember, japan exports a lot more than just anime like food, cars, electronics, etc.

asian media does have a tendency to twist or phrase stories to make it more juicy to the masses and boost sales...so take it with a pinch of salt(hands out salt shakers)

most of which had been abandoned in time. I agree with panther, without otakus, japan will be another archipielago no one even knows its there. Or do you believe the same amount of people that say "ohh the place where anime its from" will say "ohh yeah the place of the chips and robot" or "the land of small cars" or maybe "the place where censored porn its more usual than uncensored one"? Japan without anime its an Africa without Aids, a Rome without the pope, a Spain without the bull stabbing, an America without mcdonalds and a China without rice.

Japanese media are picking on one of the very things that make Japanese culture unique from the rest of the world. Does this mean they want to assimilate into globalization? That would indeed be a prospect that I am not looking forward to at all.
