A teacher who secretly filmed his female pupils changing using hidden cameras has finally brought to justice, having been fined the princely sum of ¥10,000, and been dismissed from his elementary school post, we are told.
We hear the man (53) was engaged in a career of voyeurism spanning 20 years, using skills he learnt in his post to advance his efforts, and was only discovered in a bizarre turn of events: a guard at the school shared his tastes and stole his stash of videos hidden at the school, and then attempted to blackmail the teacher into providing him with more. The teacher tipped off police, who arrested the guard for attempted blackmail, and searches soon led back to the teacher.
The laws at the time meant he could only be prosecuted under the Minor Offences Act, so a fine and a disciplinary dismissal were all that could be brought against him. For his part, he disappeared – he is probably a principal somewhere by now…

Speechless, both because he managed to do it for twenty years, and about the way he get caught. Seriously, was he just dumb, or did he not think about the possibility of being caught at the time?
Consider the possibility that he was in fact very clever to get away with it for 20 years, and to understand that the laws to punish him severely were not yet in place…
